First, let me say that I am not pg, so this is not something I need to make a decision on right away, LOL! However, its been sticking in my head, so I figured I would take it to the "experts" here and find out your opinions...
So! DH mentioned the other day that he likes the name Tobin and I really do, too. It goes pretty well with our last name and it goes well with the middle name I would like to use (my father's name).
The problem is: our dog's name is Toby.
His (the dog's) full first name is Tobias (named after a Shakespeare character), but we only call him Toby and I would imagine we would probably end up using Toby as a nickname for the child as well.
Will this be just too wierd? I suppose it could be confusing at first, for example: "Toby just pooped on the floor." Okay...I promise you I am truly serious with this question. I hope you don't think I'm joking...
One more piece of information: the dog is about 8 years old, but he's a terrier mix, so he could live to be 14-16 years old. We start TTCing this September...
Okay, I think by typing this out, I've answered my own question. BUT, I would still love to hear your input, especially if you have any solutions or ways to work it out so that we could still use this cool name!
Thanks a bunch, ladies!!

Love the name, but I really don't think I could name my child the same name as my dog. As a matter of fact my friend was over the other day with her 10 month old son Joey (same name as my dog) and holy cow it was confusing...especially to a child who is learning to test his boundaries and a when I would tell my dog to stop something the baby would look heartbroken:)
anyway maybe name a child later on this name (morbid thought I know, especially coming from someone who tells her dog that the can never leave me:)
Good Luck and I am sure that you will be able to find a name you love equally)
I probably wouldn't do it.
