Hi everyone! I have been SUPER busy with school lately and just starting University, so I haven't posted as much as I used to, but I hope to be starting again soon!

Just had a quick question... does anyone know the pronunciation of the name Yaneli? It is the name of my new sponsor child from the Dominican Republic:

Thanks!

Nikki,
That's wonderful that you're sponsoring a child! Latino/Hispanic names spelled with Y's are generally pronounced like an English J. So Yaneli would be pronounced Ja-NE-ly. The stress is on the second syllable, and the 'e' in Spanish is closer to the English long A sound, though not quite as long. Hope that helps and I hope that your sponsorship is a rewarding experience for you!

That is really helpful, I had no idea that y's were pronouned like j's! Thanks so much.
