Manuel-I say MAN-well. - That is what I thought, but I have also heard it like man-you-elle

Niamh- I think its irish, and its said Ni-EVE. - Now this I wasn't sure on, thought maybe like neve (1 syllable)

Micah-I say it like Mike w/ an UH at the end. - Again, this is how i had been pronouncing it, but then I heard meek-uh

Thanks Dawn!

Manuel = man WELL

Niamh = neev or NEE-iv; it's Irish; here's what I found on an Irish ancestry website:

niamh "radiance, lustre, brightness." The daughter of the sea god Manannan she was known as "Niamh of the Golden Hair," a beautiful princess riding on a white horse. She fell in love with Fionn's son Oisin (read the legend of Niamh and Oisin) and lived with him in Tir-na-nOg ("Land of the Young") (read the legend) where 300 years passed in what seemed like three weeks.
In 2003 it was the eleventh most popular baby girl's name in Ireland.

Micah = MIKE-ah

Manuel- I've also heard both MAN-well man-you-elle

Niamh- NOT Ni-EVE (like the word naive LOL). You were right with "neve" (1 syllable). It can also be pronounced nee-iv ... you can hear both here http://www.babynamesofireland.com/pages/girl-names-n-z.html

Micah- mike-uh is correct. Mike (pronounced meek-uh) is also a feminine German name, however, so maybe they were going for that. There's also Mieke and Mika, so I'm guessing they just wanted something similar and didn't know Micah was different. LOL

HTH ;)

ETA: I forgot about the actress, and took "neve" as an acceptible Anglicized spelling (it is ... but pronounced NEEV). Just wanted to clarify. ;)

Manuel - I say "man-yu-ELL", but very quickly. Not quite "man-WELL".

Niamh - It's Irish. I'm not an expert on this one at all, but I understand it to be "NEEV". Not "nev" like Neve Campbell.

Micah - "MY-kah". The only "MEE-ka" I have heard is our goalie, Miikka, who is Finnish. :)

Manuel = mahn-WELL

I know a little boy by this name. He goes by Manny for short. His mom gets so irritated when people call him man-u-ELLE or MAN-u-el.

I work with a Manuel, and he's very particular that it be pronounced Man-YOO-al (like an instruction manual).

Niamh - no idea

Micah - Mike-UH (love this name, by the way)

AJ, enjoying life with C.

Niamh = Neev (its my DDs name :)

NIAMH
Gender: Feminine

Usage: Irish, Irish Mythology

Pronounced: NEEV

Means "bright" in Irish. She was the daughter of the sea god in Irish legends. She fell in love with the poet Oisin, son of Fionn.
