As many of you know I am really stuggling with this naming a baby girl thing. The only name that I really love is Ava. But, it is really popular. However, it is not at all popular where I live. I had not even heard it until I was flipping in a baby name book. Yes, I do get out of the house often ;) I didn't know it was popular until looking on the ssa website. In addition to the fact that I love it, my husband does too. I don't know if you all realize how hard it is for him to like a name that I do. It took us 9 months to agree on Preston. And that took some major talking to get him to agree to that!! Everytime I find another name that I think is okay, I run it by him. He responds with; No, I like Ava. He doesn't care that it is super popular. Okay, so now to my question- Should I just stop searching and go with Ava? Or keep looking? Here is what I was thinking Ava Leigh Kathryn Smith. I thought if there was another Ava in her class she could be called Ava Leigh or Ava Kate. I really like the way Ava Leigh sounds together. And Kathryn is my mil middle name. WDYT? Or I have thought of Ava Jane Kathryn Smith. The Jane is after my mom. How does Ava Jane sound? Is it crazy to have 2 middle names? Okay, I am finished rambling! Thanks for all opinions~

I LOVE Ava Jane Kathryn!!! I totally understand about the hard-to-work-with husband. My DH does not care at all about popularity and doesn't understand why I do. He told me last night that there was another kid in his grade in high school with the EXACT same first and last name as him and it didn't bother him one bit!
If you both love Ava, go for it even though it's popular, especially if he doesn't even like anything else. I think using Ava Jane or Ava Kate would be cute even if she didn't know any other little Ava's just because it's so pretty!
Best of luck,
Liz
Thanks belle_petite for the siggy!
I think popularity is a tricky thing. My own name was number 3 in my state the year I was born, but I never had a single other girl with my name in my class until high school, and even then there were only 3 of us in my grade. To this day I rarely meet other Melissa's (and I've lived in multiple cities/states). So you just never know how the trend it going to play out in real life.
I really like double names and think the ones you've suggested are lovely and would work well to distinguish your dd if she has other Ava's in her class.
Hi Leslie -
I like Ava Leigh & Ave Jane.

I think you should go for the name you love...Ava. Ava Jane is beautiful together. I love Ava Jane Kathryn. If there is another Ava, she could go by Ava Jane!

If you really love the name that much, I think you should use it.
I guess it is AVA! Boy, I hope I only have one girl!!! Naming Preston was much easier than this :) I like so many boy names! Oh well, I guess if I have 2 girls I will be picking your brain again. LOL! Thanks for all of your help :)
