question regarding Gemma....
| Sun, 01-21-2007 - 7:04pm |
As you can see by our poll, we have decided on 2 names: Olivia Charlize (livi) and Gemma Grace (Gigi/Gracie)!!! My only concern is that we live in the south and I am afraid that Gemma would always have to correct people. WDYT? "NO, not JENNA." OR "Emma w/ a G" I know Gemma is a real name and it is popular in other countries right? Do you think people would have a hard time w/ this name? I want her to stand on her own but not to the point that it would be a problem for her. I must say though, DH wants Grace and this is the only combo that I like enough to use it. Gemma is really growing on me. WDYT?
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

I don't see why people would have trouble understanding it. It is common enough to be known. I really doubt it would be a problem, especially among all the Ashtyn's, Madisyn's, Aiden (girl), and Nevaeh's.
Go for it, it's a beautiful name. I LOVE the nn Gigi.

Thanks so much! It really is growing on me..I like Gigi too! DH likes Gracie so I think it is a win win situation! Do you think Gemma Grace Watson flows nicely?
Thanks!
It flows beautifully, I really love that name!

If I were your daughter, I'd rather tell everyone "It's Emma with a G," instead of "I'm Olivia P, not Olivia C or Olivia T."
I think it's unlikely there will be another Gemma in her class but it's a pretty name that most people have heard before.

I love it! Gemma was always at the top of my list, too. It has an attractive sound without being an overly popular name. Hopefully it will stay that way. I love Gemma Grace, nn Gigi. I'd personally stear clear of calling her Gracie, because in my area at least, it seems every third little girl is named Grace/Gracie.
I like Gemma Grace much better than Olivia Charlize (however, they are both BEAUTIFUL names). The only thing I would stay away from is calling her Grace. I know it has become quite popular these days to give a child a first and middle name, then calling the child by the middle name....but then I question why not have named he/she that as a first name to begin with?
Besides, Gemma is TOO PRETTY to not call her that. And Grace is so popular right now.
Good luck!!
Maybe name her Charlize Olivia instead. Charlize is not very popular but unique and beautiful.
I am sorry but do not like Gemma at all.
