My mother in law hates any name that me and my husband come up with that starts with R . Our last name begins with a R so she thinks having the first name starting with a R is horrible. What do you all think? We love the boys name Rylan , and for a girl Ryleigh.

Personally, I think that it's more important that it sounds good with your last name. I don't think that there's anything strange about duplicating the letters...and by the way, i love both of the names that you have picked (I voted for Ryleigh on your other post). Go for the R's!!!!

I am also one who dislikes when first and last name start with the last letter. that's just a personal preference on my part. sometimes they sound OK, sometimes they don't sound so good, and sometimes they sound absolutely awful together.

you shouldn't be telling your MIL what you're thinking about naming the baby in the first place. it's best to test your names out on here, not with family members

I am personally avoiding "R" names because our last name is Richey. Not that I think doubles are bad, but double "R"s and "L"s usually sound awcward and are hard to say.

My last name starts with an R too and I didn't like what the repeated R sounds like, so we didn't consider any R names.

My FN and maiden name both began with M. I didn't really mind. But now that I'm married and my LN begins with a C, I am trying to avoid any name that begins or ends with the CK sound because it's too hard to pronounce.
