My best friend is having a boy in a few months. She and her DH really like the name Levi but are hesitating a little bit now. I have been "researching" it for her and realized it is a Jewish name. Is is really weird for parents who aren't Jewish to use this name? What are your first thoughts when you hear the name? The other concern is that some parents are using this for their daughters. I went on another site and a lady said she named her daughter Levi (don't know how long ago) and since then she has met 2 or 3 other girls with the name. Do you think over time this will become yet another boy name turned girl? My friends husband is really freaked out by that! lol Thanks for your input. I will pass it on to them.

I love the name Levi and I don't associate it with Jewish people. I wouldn't think it weird at all for non-Jewish parents to name their child Levi. And I certainly don't think its a girls name. It is so completely strong and masculine to me.

I'm due in July and we're naming our son Levi. We are not Jewish either. Like you, I didn't realize the name was such a strong Jewish name at first. But this doesn't bother me; most everyone I tell loves the name and thinks it fits with our last name and other son's name very well. I also don't ever see this becoming a girls name. It is a very masculine sounding name to me. Hope this helps, Mary

It is a Jewish name, but I've met quite a few who aren't Jewish and I wouldn't assume that every Levi is Jewish. It's a great name.

The only Levi I know is a 4-month-old baby boy born to Catholic parents. His older siblings are Noah and Delaney. I personally can't imagine Levi on a little girl, and I don't see it as stricly a Jewish name. I think it's a wonderful choice!
