What do you think of the name Ralston possibly as a middle name? It is a boy name just in case I needed to clarify!

My mind jumped straight to some kind of hot cereal, although I'm not sure why.

That said, it's unique. What does it mean? Is it a family name?

Ralston is a variation of the name Ralph which is my dh name and I do not want to carry on the name Ralph but wanted to still honour him. We are also throwing up the name Rafe.

To be honest, it makes me think of cat food (Ralston-Purina).

That said, I think it's fine in the middle as long as your last name doesn't end in -ton or -son.

I don't care for it. Reminds me of a baseball bat company, (although I think that's actually Rawlings). I think as a middle name it's ok, but not a first name.

I think it's great as a mn but I probably would vote no as a first name.

If it's a family name, fine. If it's not, all it brings to mind is the hot cereal. Sorry.

To me, it sounds like a jeweler, a luxury sedan, or a fancy hotel.

If it's a family name, I'd say go for it. For me, that trumps almost everything else. If not, personally I would choose something else because my immediate first thought was Ralston Purina dog food, and I don't even have a dog, so that company's advertising must be pretty pervasive in the culture.

As a mn, I'd say "go for it." As a first name...I, too, think of cereal.
