Really needing some honest opinions

My husband and I are expecting our second child in November, we LOVE the name Cinch Daleray, but have gotten mixed reactions when we mention this to other people. I know that it really only matters what we like, but I dont want to give my child a name that will cause him problems when he gets older.

I am a big fan of unusual names but Cinch doesn't really work for me.

I am curious how you came up with that name, as I have never heard it!

When my sister wanted to name my nephew Huck, My father told her to please give her child a DIGNIFIED name. I see where your going with the name, but I think your kid will hate being named Cinch.

Although I wouldn't use it myself, I'm probably one of the few who thinks its not so bad.

Cinch sounds a little too wierd to me. To me the best cowboy/western type manly name will always be Clay. I do like the middle name combo.

It is not a name that I would use as a legal name, but if you wanted to use it as a nn, it would be fine.

This name wouldn't work for me - Cinch doesn't feel "western," at all, to me, but just like trying really hard to be different. (I'm not saying that's your goal, just that that's how the name comes across.) I used to live in TX, as well - lots of great names there. If I wanted a Texas feel, I might consider:

Asa
Austin
Beau
Bronson
Bryce
Brant
Clint
Colton
Chase
Carson
Chance
Cody
Clay
Grant
Houston
Nash
Rio
Shane
Zane

Honestly, it doesn't work for me...I'm torn between thinking "it's a cinch" and "cinching up their belt/corset." Some verbs work as names...some don't. I'd mark Cinch in the latter category. I like Coy, though, and that has a similar sound.
