I do know one little girl who is called Reese or Reesie, but her given name is Therese. The nn Reese doesn't bother me at all, but I much prefer it this way (a nn for a longer name). It's just not a given name for a girl, in my mind (not to mention being much too similar to the very-masculine name Rhys and all it's variants, which include the exact spelling Reese).

I have seen this name mentioned for a girl just in the past few years, I'm assuming thanks to Reese Witherspoon (whom I do like). However, I always think it's funny when people name their children "after" celebrities (or at least names that are currently linked with popular celebrities), especially considering most of these celebrities don't even have these names IRL ... they're stage names (Reese Witherspoon's real first name is Laura, for example, not Reese ... Reese was her mom's ln LOL). Not saying that's why you would choose the name, but that many people will automatically make the "like the actress" association, KWIM? Just a bit of a current trend.

Also, by using a longer name like Therese, Theresa, etc. you might find it much easier to match with a mn than the shorter, more abrupt Reese, KWIM? Just a thought! ;)

after reading thur replys,
if you'd like concidering Reesee nn of formal name,
as shared
Theresa/Therese or Teresa/Terese
or even Tereese/Tereesa as Reese would be spelled

also like shared Marissa same thing, could be Mareesa/Mareese/
..could even do similar to Maureen..Maureese
Marisa (then double name-inspired Reese Witherspoon and Marisa Tormei)

then thought, Alyssa is common loved name,
wouldnt Aryssa be so much similarly loved?
Areesa Areese Arisa Aryssa
(might want to stear clear of Arise *wink*
...might be a cute petname for you and your child though)

just sharing thoughts, good luck to you!

Thank you! It has been awhile since I have been on here. I am still considering Reese and the middle name will be Paige. So Reese Paige! Good to know your friend named her girl Reese too! Thanks!

I really like the name Reece for a girl but I only like this spelling. The other makes me think of the candy (peanut butter cups).

We are also considering Reese. I think it is a very cute name. If we use it, it will be Reese Marie.

Sorry to say I don't really care for it. Reese is not a pretty sound. To me it sounds harsh or squeeky.

Plus, it's awfully trendy right now.

But if you love it, you love it. There are certainly many worse names.

It's too popular and trendy for my taste, but it is cute and peppy. I also think it sounds equally good on a child and adult, which matters IMO.

For mn- With a 1 syllable fn, I prefer 3 or more syllable mn-

Reese Catherine
Reese Margaret
Reese Elizabeth
Reese Emily
Reese Madeline
Reese Mallory
Reese Vivian
Reese Veronica
Reese Alexandra
etc...

I also think Reese Lauren sounds good.

Lots of luck, Ginger
