My dh likes Sean Riley Marshall, but I think Sean is too common and plain. I know a lot of Seans i guess that's why. But we thought we could call him Riley. Is it too wimpy? Or should we stick with Sean? If you can give suggestions for another mn for Sean that we could call him by I would appreciate it. Thanks!

There's nothing wimpy about Riley...but Sean is much less common in the current naming climate, so I'd stick with that.

BTW--nice new nick!

I know several little girls named Riley and only one boy - about 10

it has 'gone to the girls' for the most part

I like the spelling Shawn better, I think Shawn Reilly

I know Riley is supposed to be unisex but I like it much more for a girl, I think you should just call him Sean.

I find Riley trendy and boring on a girl, but find it classy, handsome and spunky on a boy. If you are going to call him Riley, you could just do Riley Sean Marshall. Sean Marshall is a bit heavy on the "sh" sound anyways.

Sorry- I actually hadn't read the previous posts and certainly if I had I wouldn't say it to intentionally hurt you. Again - I'm sorry if my post bothered you- it really was directed to the op and had nothing to do with hurting you. I phrased it that way because the op was worried that Riley sounded "wimpy", and in my mind I thought that that may be caused because of it being a unisex name, so I touched on that.

I'm not quite sure why you would think I would hunt down your post and then same something negative about your daughter's name... I don't even know who you are and certainly didn't know your daughter was named Riley until now looking at your sig! For all I know, Riley could be the *perfect* name for your daughter, but take it for what it's worth- just one person's opinion!
