Do you all think it is ok to pronounce Roselind like Rose and not Roz? Will that be confusing? Thanks for any input.

I actually attend a school named Rosalind Franklin University and EVERYONE in and around the school refer to it as Roz - a - lynn. I think it may be a difficult name for people to pronounce correctly just because we are so used to saying it the other way. It's hard to change people's habits.

ex. A friend of mine insisted on naming her daughter Maygan instead of megan. So everytime someone calls her megan she...now a 5 year old says....Its May...gan not megan. I has gotten really old for most people to deal with.

But if you really love it you'll just learn to deal with the constant correcting of the name.

Good Luck

Actually, that's the way I thought it was pronounced! So I'd say it wouldn't be bad at all to say it with "Rose".

I'll agree that it's hard to change people's habits! Rosalind's a Shakespearian name (she's the heroine of 'As You Like It') and has been pronounced ROZ-ah-lind for at least 300 years (or maybe more). Rosalind is gorgeously lush with its own pronunciation. If you prefer the ROSE sound at the beginning, would your consider Rosalie (ROSE-ah-lee) or Rosemary (you could nickname Rosemary, Rosie or Romy!) or even Rosabel (ROSE-ah-bell) or Rosamel (ROSE-ah-mel, meaning honey rose)?

That is the way that I do say the name...with a long O as in Rose, rather than a short O. I would definitely, however, spell it Rosalind rather than Roselind. The second way just looks weird.

Great name...very pretty, feminine, and classic.

To me it wouldn't be wierd at all because I only know one Rosalind and she pronounces it Rose-a-lind and her nn is Rosa. So, that is the only way I have ever heard it
