Has anyone heard of this name? Pronounced just like it looks...rose leigh. not like "Rosalie." I think I just came up with a groovy new name! :) And it looks and sounds pretty. What do you think?

Sorry, but I prefer Rosalie, and I think everyone would mispronounce it.

It would be a middle name. With Judith as the first name.

I wouldn't even pronounce that Rose-Lee.. I'd say Rose-Lay. I too like Rosalie better. Roseleigh just looks like you're trying too hard. It *could* work as a middle. Middle names don't get heard all the time. Sounds overly fluffy paired with Judith, to me.

yeah...see...that is the problem with my middle name. Some people pronounce it "lee" and some "lay." That is why I have all but given up on passing it on. But it is a tradition in my family. My great grandmother, grandmother, and father all had the middle name "Lee." then my mom had to get all creative and give me the spelling "Leigh" which nobody can agree how to pronounce. I guess I'd better give up on passing on my name and go with just "Judith Rose."

I would pronounce this Rose-eh-LEE (quite similar to Rosalie) unless prompted to do otherwise. You might try a hyphen, to avoid confusion, but I don't think you'd find Rose-Leigh to have the same effect.

Also...just a thought, both "Rose" and "Leigh" are "short" names...I think they sound a little abrupt together without a connecting syllable, like "ah" or "eh".

I do like the IDEA of combining these two names together, I just think it's a little hard to actually pull off.

Well, best of luck to you!

Christie, there's no reason you can't get "un-creative" and go back to the traditional Lee spelling. Or if you really like the sound of Rose-ah-lee, the just use Rosalie (which is gorgeous) and you can tell your daughter just how you got from Leigh to Rosalie! A name with a story is always a cool thing to bestow an a child.

I have never heard Leigh pronounced as LAY. I have always pronounced it LEE. I always think of Lee as a more masculine spelling and Leigh as the feminine spelling.

I think Roseleigh looks pretty, but with the pronounciation, I think most people would hear and say Rosalie.

Why not just call your daughter Judith Leigh and pass on your mn?

Why not save Lee for your next child if you are planning on having more. You could use it for a girl spelled Leigh or a boy Lee. That way each gets a link to family history. just a thought.
