Stella, Willa or Francesca (Franny)
Need help with first name.
Middle name will be Mae after grandmother.
DS Ottorino we call him Trino (tree-no) after great grandfather.
DS Luciano we call him Luca, Lucas, Luc
DD Mary just liked the name simple and easy with our 4 syllable Italian last name.
What so you think of my ideas for a baby girl.
Do you think Ruby Mae, Lucy Mae ect.... sounds to country bumpkin????

Thank you for looking at this.

Hi, I am Italian and my maiden name was very Italian sounding, four syllables (now my married name is very plain and English sounding, but at least easier to spell and pronounce!)

I prefer the names on your list that have an Italian sounding feel to them (not Ruby or Sally - Sally Mae will remind everyone of their unpaid student loans). I like Alina and Francesca. How about Alana as well. I like Alice but it doesn't really fit, about about Elisa or Alisa or Alicia instead? Sara instead of Sally?

Here are some of the female names from my Italian relatives, maybe something will jump out at you: Mary (my grandmother, but you already have a Mary!), Helen (How about Helena or Elena?), Margaret, Amelia (spelled Emilia?), Rose (Rose Mae is plain, Rosalie? Rosanna?), Julia (Juliana? You could spell it the Italian way, Giulia), Laura (we pronounce this more like Lara - Lah-rah - than I usually say that name - Law-rah). I've also known girls named Giovanna and Gianna, I like those too.

HTH!

I like Alice with sister Mary. I also favor Stella or Willa with your long last name. I would eliminate Lucy for its similarity to son Luciano. Ruby and Sally may be a bit country bumpkin in comparison to other

I think Mae only tends to sound "country bumpkin" if it's said together with the fn on a regular basis. If you weren't going to use it as a double name, I don't think it's a problem at all!

Anyhow, I really love Francesca Mae, though if I used that name, I'd probably use nn Chessie or Cesca. Stella is lovely, too! Lucy is far too similar to Luciano.

Oh, and I loved a PP suggestion of Gianna!

Stella Mae is my favorite - and sounds kind of italian too. Lucy and Ruby are both pretty too but I know what you mean about country especially with Ruby.

In order of preference favorite to least:

Stella (love this)
Francesca
Alina
Willa
Alice
Sally
Lucy
Ruby

I like Mae as a first name also. As a middle, does kind of countryish feel.

Maybe a twist on Mae or two middle names?

Frnacesca Mae or Alina Mae are the best with Mae as a middle.
