okay, I must be the dumbest mother in the world!!!!

I just realized that all three of my children have Irish names, end in an N and HAVE 7 LETTERS IN THERE NAMES...

I never even thought of them all having 7 letters in them !!!! A person posting said it to me and I was like huh? and then I counted and realized its true...am i a horrible mother because I never realized this at all!!!!! Does this mean the next one whether a girl or boy has to have this criteria...honestly the only somewhat important thing is that it has an irish thing to it, I just happen to like names that end in N and I swear i had no idea about the 7 letter thing...i never actually counted them in my head....

Really it doesn't have to end in N or have seven letters, and it doesn't even HAVE to be an Irish name, I feel so stupid right now...lol wow

...to the other poster who said "am I hoping for a girl" YES MORE THAN ANYTHING...but I feel bad saying that because if I have another boy, I may have a nervous breakdown, but I will love him more than life itself, like the rest!!!

Thanks Again Ladies

HAHA. Isn't it funny how we don't always realize those things until someone points them out?

As for the next baby, I think you need to choose a name with a gaelic/Irish vibe, but I definitely don't think you need to stick with the "n" or "seven letter" rule. I think that will limit you far too much and I seriously doubt anyone will notice if you break those trends. (Heck, you wouldn't have even realized if someone hadn't pointed it out.)

I do think it would be very strange if you suddenly gave your child a name like Phoebe or Gabriela -- a name that is not only NOT Irish, but clearly associated with a different country/language. But as long as you choose a name that is Irish, I think the next one will fit right it.

Oh, and I'm not surprised you ended up with three Irish names that end in "n". SO many of them do. In fact, I'm really struggling right now to find a middle name for Mairin because most of my favorite Irish names end with "n".

I agree with Annie -- I would stick with an Irish type name but not worry too much about the 7 letter or ending in N thing (although, it's true, almost every name boy name I like seems to have an Nding LOL).

Oddly enough, all three of our girls will also have 7-letter names (and no, we didn't do this on purpose either LOL) ... Kaitlyn, Devanie and Abigail. We also try to stick with Irish/Celtic type names (although we use the American pronunciation of Kaitlyn and obviously Abigail isn't Irish, although it is popular there ... her mn will be Fiora, though). ;)

Just for fun, here are a few that fit some or all of the criteria if you do stick with it:

Griffin
Breckin
Lachlan
Cillian/Killian
Finnian
Torsten
Everett
Garrett/Jarrett
Elliott
Taggart
Declan
Gavin
Owen
Nolan
Ewan
Logan
Rowan
Deacon
Ian

I would not have realized the 7 letter thing either! I also love the sound of irish names as my first son is Brendan! And don't feel bad about saying that you want a girl...I just had my third boy and yes, if we have another baby, it would be nice to have a girl but another boy would be a blessing as well. I know what you mean though, you don't want to sound bad by saying that you want a girl. Anyway, good luck on the name search and I LOVE your children's names!
