I really like the name Shiloh for a little girl. It's been growing on me since I first heard it. Do you think that this name will grow in popularity since Brad Pitt & Angelina named their baby girl Shiloh?
I also am considering it for a boy. What are your thoughts?
Thanks!
HC

I think it will grow in popularity because of the Angelina/Brad connection.
I know one girl named Shiloh, and she is junior-high age. I would only use it for a girl, not a boym because I think it is generally used for girls, although it could be a boys name.
When I hear Shiloh I think of the Civil War battle.
Here is some information I found on it:
The girl's and boy's name Shiloh is pronounced SHYE-loh. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "His gift." Also possibly "he who was sent." Biblical: a prophetic name for the Messiah, Shiloh is also significant as the site of a crucial battle in the American Civil War.
Shiloh has 3 variant forms: Shilo, Shylo and Shyloh.
Shiloh is a name I have loved (for boy or girl) for years. I have only met two. One was a female in college with me in the early 90s, the other a three-year-old boy.
I was disappointed when the Jolie-Pitts used it. It is seeing some fragmented increased usage since Shiloh's birth. However, for most people, this will be a reason they will not use it.
If the common references to the Pitt baby will not bother you, then I fully endorse the name as a spectacular choice.
Best wishes,

I also really like the name. I do think it will grow in popularity but definaely not to the point that it is top 50. I prefer it on a girl. A similar name you could consider is Shelby.
