Should I throw in the towel?

Hey there,

I am 34 weeks. I am really about to lose my mind with this name game. My dh really likes Austin Gregory. It just doesn't do much for me. I love Ethan Alexander, he hates it. We both somewhat like Jackson Bennett. So in short the question is... Do I just give up and let DH have the name he likes so much or what? It wasn't this hard with DS#1 (Jacob Dylan). HELP Please before I lose it and just call him Baby Boy Scott # 2! Thanks for any ideas and support!

Well, first of all, I think Jacob and Jackson are too close for brothers. It seems very cutesy to me.

But aside from that, I think you have some nice name choices. I think what you need to do is compromise. Gregory is your DH's name, right? So how about you concede on that as a middle name, but you choose a different first name.

Ethan Gregory or Bennett Gregory would be really nice. I LOVE Bennett, so that would be my first choice. And it sounds like you husband likes it too if Jackson Bennett is an option.

Can you compromise on Ethan Gregory? You posted elsewhere that Gregory is your DH's name, so that would be a nice concession to him, and you'd still get to use the first name that you love. FWIW, I like Ethan Gregory much better than Ethan Alexander anyway. Ethan Alexander is a furniture company or something, I think...

Otherwise, I think each of you should rate each individual name -- not the combos, but each name separately -- and then try to work with both of your top rated names to make a combo.

HTH and good luck!

Austin Gregory is winning the poll, I think. I voted for it. It flows much better than Jackson Bennett (also, I don't love Jackson and Jacob together....too cute). I prefer Austin to Ethan by a mile. I really think Austin Gregory is by far the best name you've put forth.

How about Easton Gregory? Similar to Austin and Ethan - so you both get a little of what you like.

I don't think you should throw in the towel. You should both be happy with the first name you choose. I love Gregory as a middle name.

Another idea would be Alec Gregory (Alec from Alexander). Good luck reaching a compromise.
