  • Which way should we spell this name?
  • Meghan (My favorite)

  • Megan (DH favorite)
  • Middle name will be Marie after my grandmother

  • Any other suggestions would be great too...thanks!

As the mom to a Megan, I had to vote for that spelling. :-) I will say that the Meghan spelling has grown on me, and I can see why people might think it looks prettier (just like I prefer Sarah to Sara). However, what I like most about Megan is its simplicity. Also, it's the most common spelling, so people are more apt to guess it correctly if they need to write her name somewhere.

Regardless of which spelling you choose, Megan/Meghan is a great name. It's one that people are familiar with, but it's not as popular now as it was 20 years ago. We have maybe met 1-2 other Megans under age 5.

We use the nn Meg a lot, and I think Meg/Megan grows well into an adult, too. The only confusion we've had is that DD has a Maggie in her preschool class (along with a Molly and a Makayla). All those M names and the similar sounds of Maggie/Megan sometimes pose a small problem.

I think Meghan/Megan Marie is lovely, too. A great choice!

Stephanie, mom to Megan Joy (nn Meg) and Julianna May (nn Annie)

OK, I am bias...My daughter's name is Megan...spelled that way. I don't think it will bother her in the future either way though. My daughter is always spotting cashier's and things with her name spelled differently, and she doesn't make a fuss about the "H" in their names. I thought it would be a big deal and make it harder for her to spell when she was little with the "H". Anyway, I'm all for MEGAN. :)
