Boys I am not sure because one of my fav.'s Owen is pretty popular. I might remove Isaac though, because it is popular and not that high on my list! HELP!! Maybe you guys can give me more ideas and advice. Thanks!
Michelle

Yes, this is what I was saying in my original post.
Too many Autumns and Carolines. In fact, I think all 36 Carolines must've been born in my hometown! LOL I would advise striking Natalie too, although
Ginger
Anneliese- 915 -- I think this is more popular than it sounds given alternate spellings and the fact that it's made up of Anne and Elise, which are pretty popular in their own right. I don't think it's so popular that you should strike it, but be warned I think this one is growing.
Annika- 327 -- I love this name and I don't think it's going to shoot up anytime soon. I think this is a great choice for you
Autumn- 91, 60 in my state! -- way too popular for me considering it's not a classic/perrenial favorite. It's just okay to me anyway, so being this high on the list would make me strike it.
Camryn- 235 -- you know I'm not a fan of this name (though I do like Cameron for boys) so keep in mind my prejudice. However, again, this is more popular than it sounds due to the fact that it has multiple spellings AND is unisex. I just really don't like it. Sorry.
Caroline- 83, 36 in my state! -- I love this name and it's my number one. BUT I do think it's far too popular to use just because you like it. The only reason it's my number one is because (a) it's my grandmother's name and (b) my daughter would use her (more unusual) middle name. On it's own, it's lovely but SO popular. If I were you, I'd strike it.
Bridget- 328 -- I still love this for you. It's well known but not popular and not at all trendy. It's been around for ages but has never been super popular.
Kiersten- 455 -- I've always liked this name. Again, it's more popular than it sounds if you combine Kiersten/Kierstin/Kirstin/Kristin/Christine/Christina/etc.
Natalie- 18, 34 in my state! -- WAY too popular nad growing. Definitely strike this one. It's popping up everywhere and is still on the rise.
Laken- only stat. for 1995 it was 890 -- this is growing on me. I really didn't like it at first, but the more I think about it, the more I like it for you. It goes very nicely with Weston (although the on/en endings make me feel like I'm stuttering a bit) and I like how unusual it is without being "weird" or madeup.
Personally, I'd narrow the list to a top five of Anneliese, Annika, Bridget, Kiersten and Laken. And I'd further narrow the list to a top three of Annika, Bridget and Laken.
I actaully really love Annika for you. It's a name I love and it's another that is unique without being weird. And I like it better with Weston than Laken because the endings are different. And Annika Violet is really lovely.
Boys:
August- 634 -- love this. Absolutely love it. The Gus names are starting to pop up a bit more so they don't seem "weird" or "old" anymore, but they aren't anywhere near popular.
Liam- 104 -- I love this, but it's pretty popular. Keep in mind that there are lots of William's who have Liam as a nn and William is the #1 name in GA.
Owen- 60, 83 in my state! -- I'm a bit sick of this one. It's been popular for a long time. I do like it, a lot actually, but I think you'd be better off with a less popular name for a brother to Weston.
Roan/Rowan- Roan spelling is not even in 1,000, Rowan is #441 -- you know I love this. I'd go with the Roan spelling since I know you are worried about the unisex issue. I love this for you.
Isaac- 50, 75 in my state! -- and growing. Absolutely growing. This is popping up everywhere. I know quite a few born in the last year. I'm expecting a jump for the 2006 stats. I'd strike it.
Mason- 42, 41 in my state! -- This is one of my guilty pleasures. It's not a name I'd ever use, but I love it. I think it's a very Southern name (though it's obviously spread across the country). I think it's too close in sound to Weston (I really dislike that similar ending) and too popular. I don't know that I'd strike it immediately, but it wouldn't be my first choice for you.
Reid- 423 -- I love this for you. I didn't know this was on your short list. This is a favorite of mine and I love it with Weston.
Corbin- 311 -- I love this for you also. I didn't know this was on your list either. I really love this and have for a long time. It ends in "n", but it doesn't bother me as much here. This is a great different but not weird choice.
I'd narrow it to a top five of: August,Corbin, Mason, Reid, and Roan. And then I'd further narrow it to: August, Corbin and Reid. That's a really spectacular top three. And I like any of them paired together, if you want to use one as a middle name. I'd say my favorite is a tie between August Reid and Corbin Reid. But August (or some variation of Gus) is a family name, right? That gives it the edge.
So there you have it. My top five of each, my top three of each and my frontrunners for you -- Annika Violet and August Reid.
Well, if you're going to take the SS in to consideration (don't we all! lol) then I would say Bridget and Corbin. They're kind of in the middle. And I think they go the best with Weston overall. The only other one I like as well is Natalie.
I know what you mean about Owen, dh still has not decided and that is one of our (maybe) top runners.
I'd be weary of the 915 on Anneliese. That name has lots of spellings and I'd say it's getting really popular (at least on line, never met one IRL)
Karen
Thanks Annie, I respect everyone's opinion, but especially yours because you always take everything into consideration when helping someone with names. You base your opinion on their personal situation, so thank you. I think I will take Caroline and Natalie, off of my girls list (possibly Autumn too, but my dh loves it). For the boys I think I will remove Isaac for now, because I like it, but it just doesn't "feel" like the one. I wish I didn't have to consider Dh's feelings :) I would already have the baby named:
Roan August for a boy and Laken Violet for a girl...but ya know, I respect his rights :) Bridget I love and is dh's #1, but it is the mn thing that bothers me with that one. Thanks again!
Michelle
The other girls have covered this well, and I'm in a time crunch right now, so I'm not going to hit every name.
Just for an update, not just to you personally but I wanted everybody to know some of the names that I have eliminated, let me know what you all think:
Eliminated Girls:
Annika - because there are a couple different ways I think people COULD say it, so I want something that isn't so easily mispronounced.
Anneliese- because there are a lot of variations of this name and all Anna names that make it more common, I also am considering it as a mn.
Natalie- due to popularity #18 is just too common for me
Caroline- same reasons as Natalie, it just isn't different enough for me.
Eliminated Boys:
Isaac- I like this, but not with Weston, plus its popularity pushed it off also.
Corbin- as much as I love this name it has a bad association for me that I can't seem to get past, so I would rather just take it off.
So that leaves (in order of what dh and I like best)
Girls:
1. Bridget
2. Laken
3. Camryn
4. Kiersten
5. Autumn
Boys:
1. Roan/Rowan (which I pronounce the same, I know some people don't, but they are listed as the same name in all my baby name books, and some people on this board also pronounce them the same)
2. August
3. Owen
4. Liam
5. Reid
Thanks for all the help, more comments and suggestions are welcome. I would like to have it narrowed down to two for each gender by the time we find out (in about 3 months).
Thanks!
Michelle
