LOL! we were posting at the same time! I was just more longwinded.
The first thing I did, of course, was check on the status of Eliana. It went up from 302 to 282. This doesnt surprise me, because when we were talking about the name no one had heard of it, now everyone we meet says they know someone named Eliana! I am actually kind of surprised that it isnt higher. But I kind of think that my area has a larger than normal concentration.

Violet moved up 111 spaces! Wow. Ava's in the top 5. Ethan's #4. Aubrey jumped 61 spaces to enter the girls' top 100 at 92. Nevaeh moved up 27 spaces to #43. Luke actually dropped, but Beckett made a *huge* gain by appearing in the top 1000 for the first time at #758! Of course, Noah leaped a whopping--if unsurprising--SEVEN spaces to number fifteen.

I was initially surprised not to see Aidan in the top 5 until I looked a little further. If you add up instances Aiden (#30) and Aidan (#44) it comes out to 21,318--that's makes it higher than Ethan in actual usage (and interestingly "en" is now ranked higher than "an"). For 2005 the combined spellings wouldn't have been in the top 15. I added up all the other related names--Hayden, Jayden, etc. and it comes up to 57,526--more than Jacob and Michael combined. Whew, that's quite a trend!
I have granddaughters named Delaney and Sienna, so I've been watching how those two rank for a couple years - Delaney is 5, Sienna is 3 - the previous year Sienna jumped 310 spots from 609 to 299
Delaney had actually been climbing gradually, hitting a high of 169 in 2004, but has gone down now to 193, so Sienna has leap-frogged over Delaney
it doesn't hold true so far right where we are as we know several other Delaney's, but only one other Sienna
hello!! well i know which names to avoid-lol. seriously though-micheal being #2 surprised me and so did isabella being #4. what did surprise me though was my youngests name-isabelle-is way down at #85...but my oldests-violet-is creeping up-its #291. back 15 years ago, both names were in the 900's. lol. but-back when i named my youngest-2004-i want to say her name was really high-#16 or #17. anyway, thanks for posting-very interesting!!:-) joanne maman2goons@yahoo.com
I'm always ever so surprised to see the name Michael so high on these lists. I have *never* -- in my 13-1/2 years of parenting and my 20+ years of being an auntie -- met a little boy named Michael/Mike. EVER. Have you?
just great! my dd name went from in the 100's in early 2002 to #9 in 2005 now it's #5!!! yikes!lol well at least my new beans name isn't even in the top 1000! yay! Dee mom to Ava 4 years 7 months old 28 weeks preg. with Carys
I know one and he is about 12-13. I bet a lot of them are Jr, III, ext. and go by middle names and such now when I was in school we had atleast 2-3 every year in a class of 18-20!

This is so much fun! First impressions:

Woo hoo! Abigail snuck back down to #6 nationwide (and 7 for my state). A sad thing to be excited about, but last year's #4 slot
