Starting our list! Any advice/opinions?

I introduced myself earlier, and thought I'd post our "starting list". Hopefully, if this
pregnancy stays put, we'll have many months to discuss!

We aren't so much into family names, not worried about that, but I do think it'd be cool to kind of "work" DH and my name into the baby's name (ie Nicole=Cole Ryan= Ry/Ryland/Rylie). Our last name is Barczak (bar-zak)

So here's our lists, and some comments beside the names:

GIRLS
Ava: Ok, dh hates it. I like it, but seems kind of popular

Audra: I *love* this name. Audra Brooke. I'd make dh love it just to use it. BUT, we have a new niece named Aubrionna (yeah long freakin name) nn Aubri. Is it too close to Aubri??

Brynn: I LOOOVE Brynn, but is Brynn Barczak tooo many "b" sounds?

Ellery: I loove Ellery, DH doesn't care for it. I like Ella as a nn, but not as her full name.

Gracen: Cute, not sure if it'll be a winner on our list though.

Kennedy: It was my sisters 1st choice for Aubrionna's name (I wish she'd have used it) but she didn't like the nn Kenny. Hmm

Morgan: One of the only names DH and I agree on. I like Morgan Reilly/Rylee

Raegan: Hmm I like this, I don't think DH will. too boyish? Is Reagan better?

Rylee: (ok, any spelling... which is right?? I spelled it this way b/c my mn is Lee, DH's name is Ryan)

MIDDLE NAMES we like for girls:
Olivia:
Taylor: (was my gr. grandmas last name)
Rylie/Reilly/Riley:
Gabrielle:
Madelyn:
Lee: (my middle name)
Brooke: (prob our #1 fav. Dh picked it out)
and any of the first names above could work for a mn

BOYS
Hudson: I really like Hudson, but it's fad is dwindling down with me..

Porter: The only boy name DH loooves. I really like it too, but is it too weird? What if he's chubby? Will he be Porker?? I guess any Parkers could be a Porker too, huh? And people name their kids Parker....

Griffin: I love this name too, but kind of reminds me of Harry Potter Grifendorf..(sp?) Dh doesn't care for it.

Ryder: I like this, but may be too close to Ryan's name. He says he's not naming his son after a moving company.

Maddox: We started out loving Madden (I posed last year about this..) but decided its too close to Madison adn all the Maddie's out there. So Maddox is on the list, but I'm not too sure about it. Mad-dix? Mad-docks? Mad-ducks? How exactly do you pronounce that last part?

MIDDLE NAMES for boys:
Cole: (my name is Nicole...)
Lee:
Ryan/Ryland/Ryder: (I like Ryland better.. a little twist, like Cole)
Scott: (Dh's mn. Any other forms of this name we could use? Scott is so.. old)
Camden: (my brother's name is Cameron)

Ok, I'm sorry for the forever long post. If you have any name suggestions that are along our "style" let me know. I'd love to see some new ideas! I loved the name Carson/Carter, but my cousin named her new puppy Carson. BLEHH> :)

If you notice, DH doesn't really like many of the names, however, he doesn't offer any ideas either! LOL. He likes Morgan Rylee, Brooke (will NOT be the fn. Brooke Barczak..ick) Porter and Madden (nooope).

Thanks in advance!

Nicole

Girls: I like Audra the best. Ava is pretty but popular, Brynn (initials BB) would make me pass, Ellery is okay...but also sounds like a British person saying Hillary to me, and the other choices are a bit too current/fad for me. I think if DH really likes Brooke...then go with Audra Brooke. Audra isn't that close to Aubri...it might be too much for sisters - but not for cousins.

Boys: I like Porter - it is a bit unique but also classic too. Maddox is nice too (I say MAH-dux.

OK, parents are Nicole and Ryan Barczak:

Ava - if DH hates it, it's out. It is getting really popular

Audra - I don't think it's too close to cousin Aubri, but you need to make that call

Brynn: Brynn Barczak sounds OK to me

Ellery: I think Ella's better as a full name. There are tons of little Ellies out there right now. Ellery is too much for me - - too last name trendy.

Gracen - Grace, yes, Gracen nms

Kennedy - I don't get this name, and Kennedy Barczak is a bit too U.N.

Morgan - this is fine. Reilly/Rylee is way too trendy for me, but I don't focus on mn

Raegan - feel same as I do about Kennedy

Rylee - think of her as a grown woman. It just doesn't look like a serious-minded name. It'll say "oh you were born in 2005 and your parents liked creative spellings." If you want to name the child after yourselves, give her the middle name Ryan or the middle name Lee, or your maiden name, or something.

BOYS
Hudson - I think of the Hudson River. Would have to have a story behind it.

Porter: I think of porters on trains. Would have to have a story behind it

Griffin: too trendy for me

Ryder: this seems to be a big Hollywood baby name. nms

Maddox: nms

Ava -- not 'getting' popular, it's already there, up to 25 from 180 in 5 years.

Ok normally I'm not a big fan of Rylee, but I like the combonation of your two names- I would chose Rylee Madelyn or Rylee Taylor-my 2nd choice would be Ellery.

As for your boys I like Griffin best (it was our final choice for a boy). I like Griffin Cole.

Nice list overall, good luck!

Well, my thoughts:

Ava: lovely, but getting so so popular

Audra: Very nice, not too close to Aubri for cousins IMO

Brynn: Eh, no thanks. The BB alliteration is bad enough but I also hate all the Brynn, Breanna, Bree, Brenna type names

Ellery: Ick, too much like celery, not really a name

Gracen: Like Grayson on a boy, but not this

Kennedy: No

Morgan: Okay, one of the unisex names I can stand

Raegan: No

Rylee: No, I love Riley on a boy however, but not a fan of this for girls

Best choice: Audra Brooke, Ava Brooke

BOYS

Hudson: NN of Hud is enough to nix this for me

Porter: I like this one

Griffin: I like this as well, especially with the nn Finn

Ryder: eh

Maddox: I would pronounce it Ma-dux, and I would also pass on this name.

Best choice: Porter Scott, Porter Ryan, Griffin Scott

Short and sweet answer: Ava or Raegan (that spelling). I don't like any of the boy choices. What about Carter?

I like Brynn or Audra. I'd think hard before using Porter. Occupational names are sort of irritating in any case, but something so servile... I could never do it.

As for Kennedy, the nn Kenny is horrible but I knew a little girl named that and they called her Kenna, which I thought was kinda cute. Kenna's a lot better than Kenny on a little girl.

Thank you for all the opinions!

DH and I discussed it a little, and of course I've been thinking about the names a ton (even though I have quite awhile to think LOL).

My favs, I suppose, so far are these:

Audra Brooke
Morgan Rylee (sp. that way b/c our names, but for mn won't be too bad)
Ava Morgan/Ava Rylee/Ava Brooke
Ellery Brooke (although pretty low on my favs list)

Logan Scott/Logan Cole (just added this, and is one of my favs now) Is Logan Cole ok?
Porter Scott
Hudson Cole
Griffin Scott

I really am hoping we have a boy first b/c DH only likes Morgan. Well, if we use Morgan, then that cuts Logan and Porter off the boys list, adn they are my fav boy names. (Morgan and Porter start the same, and Logan and Morgan are only one letter off from rhyming totally).

I really love Audra. Audra Brooke and Logan Scott. Logan and Audra. But DH does not like Audra. GRR> Well, I guess I have till Feb. to convince him (if its a girl).

Thanks, again.
Nicole
