Thanks so much for all your great responses about our "we don't love Charlotte" question! Right now we are throwing around Scarlett. DH really likes it. I'm a bit scared it's too much. Our other names are so classic. His reasoning is also we almost named DD #3 Georgia and chickened out at the last minute. He regrets it. We live in a very conservative (name-wise) area with lots of Emmas and Jacobs and Justins and Emilys so we are a bit worried that Scarlett will stick out too much. Does anyone have any real life experience with Scarlett? Also, we'd like to use Johanna as the middle name. Is it too much like Scarlett Johansson, actress?

Thanks again!

I've never met a Scarlett - but I also have a really hard time imagining one...It is a beautiful name (does make me think of the actress though)- what if you switched it around
Johanna Scarlett (pretty, sophisticated, uncommon, lots of nn possibilities)

Good Luck

PS - don't worry about what people around you do - do what you love!

I agree. . .LOVE Johanna, BUT we have a niece named Joanna. :-) I got permission from her mom to use Johanna as a middle name since we love it so much.

I adore the name Scarlett! I do agree that Scarlett Johanna would be too similar to the actress, though. Maybe Scarlett Jane, Scarlett Jeanine, Scarlett Josephine, Scarlett Janelle?

If you regretted not naming your last daughter Georgia, why not use it this time??? It is such a beautiful name:)
Georgia Josephine, Georgia Johann, Georgia Jolie
If you do use Scarlett Johanna you will definitely hear "like the actress?", but it may fade with time and if it doesn't bother you then go with it, but if you like other middle name options just as much, I'd go with one of those:) Good luck! Keep us posted:)

Or use Georgia Scarlett... Either way I love the name Scarlett-- it's classic and a very pretty name.

Chickened out of using Georgia? It's such a classic, lovely name, even in a name-conservative place. I'd go with Georgia Scarlett, personally. But Scarlett isn't "out there," at all, either, so I definitely wouldn't hesitate to use Scarlett as a first name. I do think that Scarlett Johanna is super-similar to the actress's name; but if you've weighed that factor and don't mind the comments (they'll only last a few months, anyway, until her middle name stops being used on a regular or semi-regular basis), then go with the name you love best!

I like Georgia or Johanna Scarlett. I don't like Georgia Scarlett too much bc it's too close to a Gone with the Wind reference for me (but if you like it, that's what matters). Scarlett Johanna sounds too much like Scarlett Johanson!

My votes for Georgia Scarlett. Scarlett Johanna does remind me of the actress, sorry.
