I don't know if it's accurate or not (I got this book when pregnant with my daughter almost 6 years ago), but according to one of my baby name books concerning the legalities involved in choosing a baby's name:
"... the baby's name should be composed of letters, not numbers. In 1978 a district court judge refused to allow a young Minneapolis social studies teacher to legally change his name to the number 1069, calling such a change 'an offense to human dignity' that would 'hasten that day in which we all become lost in faceless numbers."
However, it doesn't say anything about spelling out numbers as the given name (think Six from Blossom, for lack of a better example LOL). ;)
Also, glad to hear you're not thinking of doing this yourself. hehehe
It is absolutely legal and although many might feel this is a stupid trend to be kre8tiv, before you rush to condemn, consider that it might actually be a cultural issue. Many Asian names contain numbers. My best friend used to work at the New York Times and knew a reporter there named Jennifer 8. Lee.
Thats funny that you would say no one should be able to name their kid Dick. Growing up there was actually a girl in my school who brothers name was Richard Head. Needless to say, he had lots of problems.
I had to read it 3 times before I realized that that was the name. I think there is a difference between being unique and being... the only word that comes to mind is STUPID! Why would you do that. There are books and books full of names. Plus a billion web sites. Thats almost cruel, yet funny to us at the same time.
Wow ... I for one had definitely not seen that! Poor kid!
That did remind me of a birth announcement from a local hospital a few weeks ago. Still not sure if it was a type or what, but it read simply Nevaeh 0 (as in, the number 0 in the middle name slot ... it was a web announcement, and they don't put lns). I'm hoping it just means they didn't have a mn chosen at that point and it got put there by mistake, but you never know!
ROFL! Interesting topic.

LOL our last name is Moore and when I was PG with my first my DH joked about naming our child 'Seven Banana' as in '1 banana, 2 banana, 3 banana, 4.'

Apologies if you've seen that before.
Apologies even if you haven't. But I was reminded of it and, well, there it is.
