Suggestions for girl names ........HELP!

I'm almost five months along and I don't know what I'm having yet, I've had my boy named picked out since my last pregnancy when I had a girl. We cannot come up with a girl name! There are girl names I love but my husband either doesn't or the name just doesn't fit with our other children's names. I've loved the name Bailey since I was a little girl, that was always the name I was going to use for a girl but now it has gotten so popular that I don't want to use it. I definetely think girls names are harder to decide on. My six year olds name is Jack Henry and my 19 month old girl's name is Kaycee Lyn. The boy name I have picked out is Samuel Nolan or Samuel John. We don't like "unusual" names and I really am not into trendy names either. When I named my son Jack almost seven years ago the only Jacks I knew were little old men, now it seems there are little Jacks everywhere! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello!

I am new to this board and you are my first post!
I agree, finding a girls name is tough. My husband and I just started trying (yeah!) and of course I am picking out names already.

You said you did not like trendy names, but what about Ellie Madison... or my name, which is Sandy

I don't really have that many names to suggest, but I would suggest not using Keely. My name is Kelly and people already get confused with the million and a half ways to spell that. I would imagine that if you named your daughter Keely she would constantly have people say Kelly and then have to spend the rest of her life correcting people. My brother's name is Brendan and people always call him Brandon and it really bothers him. I could definately see that happening if you used Keely. Other than that, I do like the name Brooke which I saw mentioned a lot and that you liked. I hope you find a great name!

I love the name Jack, that has always been one of my picks for a boy name! My daughters name is Amalie, (ay-muh-lee), Kathleen. What about Emma or Caydence? I almost named my daughter Madeline Samantha, I would have called her Maddy. I totally agree with you that girls are harder to name than boys! Good Luck and Congrats!

I know I love Bailey too. I just wish it wasn't so popular right now. If I were to use it I would spell it Baleigh. Thank you for all of your suggestions. I really like Waverly and Brinley, Very Cute!!! I'm going to run these by my husband.

I wanted to comment on some of the girls names you like so far:

Brooke - my name, so I am biased :) I think that Brooke is a pretty name that ages well. It is not too cute and not too formal. I also think that Jack, Kaycee, and Brooke all fit together, but are not too matchy.

Lucy - this is another great option! I think that Lucy Brooke is a cute combo and the name works well with your other kids.

Charlotte - I think that this is going to be a very hot soon - it is growing quickly in popularity so I would avoid it.

Keely - I posted this earlier for someone - I know a baby with this name who was born a few months ago and people have had very negative reactions to the name. People don't know how to spell it or it's origins. I would avoid this name.

Oooh, I love girls' names! I just skimmed the thread, but here are my thoughts:

I love Charlotte. I think it's classic, and goes well with your other names.

If you like Brooke, have you considered Brooklyn? Just a thought, don't know if it's been suggested already...

I also love the name Bailey - we almost named Cassidy that, but nixed it because I swear everyone we know has a dog named Bailey. A name we also loved and considered was Brenna, which I think is pretty, without being too popular or too out there.

HTH!

Thanks Brooke for your feedback. I have to say that right now Brooke is our front runner. You're right, it is a name that ages well and it does fit with Jack and Kaycee, it also fits well with a lot of other names so a middle name should be easy to fit with it.

Lucy is my mother-in law's nickname so we want to stay away fromit.

Keely is the name my husband really likes, me not so much.

First of all I have to say your daughter is precious!!!! I know what you mean about Bailey being a dog's name. I get that alot when I tell people my son's name is Jack. They say "oh wow that's my dog's name" or something similar. I have considered Brooklyn, but my husband is not crazy about it. We considered Cassidy when I was pregnant with my daughter. Charlotte is very cute but I'm afraid it's getting too popular since Sex and the City. Thanks for your suggestions. Keep them coming!
