Suggestions for mn's based on these?
| Mon, 10-09-2006 - 4:00pm |
I decided that maybe if I compile a list of some family names that it will help me in the quest to find Lorelei a mn. Can you offer any suggestions based on these?
Wilhelmina Mae (aka Bonnie)
Cynthia
Lynn
Rachael
Michelle
Evelyn
Emmaline

But back to you.
Lorelei is truly beautiful with either as a MN, plus you probably won't be using the MN very often and in print it will most likely be her middle initial that you see most often (in either case it will be M.) You don't have to decide today, you can wait and see your little angel and deicide when she is born if she is more of a Lorelei Mae (to me more old-fashioned and cute) or a Lorelei Michelle (more spunky and modern).
Hope that helps!

Well let's see...
Lorelei Wilhelmina - I suppose it sounds ok, not my first choice
Lorelei Mae -- it doesn't rhyme, but it almost seems like it does to me, too close I guess
Lorelei Bonnie -- not a good pair
Lorelei Cynthia -- maybe, but a little sing-songy to me I guess it would depend on you last name
Lorelei Lynn -- too much a literation
Lorelei Rachael -- is this like Rachel? not sure
Lorelei Michelle -- this has gotten my vote every time
Lorelei Evelyn -- maybe, might be too many L sounds
Lorelei Emmaline -- see Evelyn
Karen
If you are so set on using a family name, my vote still goes to Mae. It is short, sweet, and means a lot to you. The rest are very L heavy with Lorelei (Michelle, Lynn, Evelyn ect...) Good luck!

Well, I've always really liked Lorelei Cynthia. And of the new choices, I like Lorelei Evelyn and Lorelei Rachael.
I have another suggestion though, since you don't seem enamoured with any of you current options. What about Lorelei Michaela? Michaela and Michelle are both feminine versions of Michael, so it's a way of naming her after yourself without doing so literally. And by using an M name, you are honoring both yourself and your grandmother without using Mae or Michelle. Just a thought. I think it's a pretty combination.
I still like Lorelei Michelle with Lorelei Mae in a close second.
Other ideas that might be a little off the beaten path:
Lorelei Mina
Lorelei Hyacinth (from Cynthia)
Lorelei Moon (Cynthia means moon)
Lorelei Diana (another name for moon goddess, like Cynthia)
Lorelei Michaela (for Michelle)
Lorelei Bonne (for Bonnie)
Lorelei Willa
Lorelei Maeve
Lorelei Maegan
Lorelei Maelynn
Lorelei Mae Lynn
Lorelei Raelynn
Good luck!
Lorelei Willow
Lorelei Rachelle
Isn't Wilhelmina Mae (aka Bonnie) the woman you'd wanted to honor in the first place? You're grandmother was it?
Anyway, I only ask because Lorelei Wilhelmina has a very German feel to it, which was, I believe, one of your reasons for loving Lorelei. If you wanted some "lighter" options that would still honor her, Helma, Helmine, Ilma, Minna and Mina are all short forms of Wilhelmina. You could also go with another feminine form of William, like Willa or even Willemina (just a little less L-heavy).
Just a thought!
