Suggestions Wanted for names

Hello, I am new here; just found out I am expecting.

Anyways, DH and I are already debating the name thing. Since we have a long last name (3 syllables, start with B), we are concerned with flow.

Knowing flow is a concern, it's really hard to comment not knowing the actual ln. Just knowing it's a B, however, would make me a bit wary of both Brenna and Gabrielle, but without actually pairing the rest with the ln there's no way to say if they work well with it. ;)

And are the mns family names, btw? I only ask since you have a different one paired with each name, yet many seem to be fairly common choices (pretty much all the girl mns and at least Lee and Nicholas from the boys')? If they're not for family, you might also consider combining some of your favorites for a fn/mn combo. That way you get TWO names you love rather than one you love and one standard "mn type name" that sounds ok, KWIM? A lovely, unexpected mn is always interesting.

As to the rest of your list ...

Girls

Brenna Lynne - probably not with a B ln ... but not my favorite here anyway

Charlotte Elise - lovely. ;)

Genevieve Sophia - Love Genevieve. I wouldn't personally pair it with Sophia (very common and not the best flow), but that's just my own preference.

Gwyneth Ann - Love Gwyneth as well. It's in my top five. ;)

Gabrielle Leigh - not into it, and it might be a bit too B-heavy with your B ln, but if you do end up using it I wouldn't pair it with Leigh. Just runs together to sound like Gabrielley. LOL

Boys

Garrett Evan - nice

Preston Lee - not for me personally, but I've nothing against it (well, other than my mom's mn being Lee and hearing how much she's always hated it LOL). The combo as a whole has a nice, Southern surnamey feel, though, so I can't say I hate it. ;)

Travis Kearney - Travis is one of those that always reminds me of

Hello and congratulations on expecting!

Here are my thoughts on your list (and keep in mind I'm pretty picky):

Girls

Brenna Lynne - Brenna is pretty. It's too rhymey with Lynn, though. I'd spell Lynn without the e- unless you are using it specifically as a family name Lynne.

Charlotte Elise - Two pretty names. Choppy together.

Genevieve Sophia - Two gorgeous names. Very pretty together. A general rule is to vary syllables, though. There might be

Girls

Brenna Lynne- I like Brenna a lot, although not sure how it would sound with a B last name- I guess it depends on teh name. Lynne, however, is REALLY boring and outdated.

Charlotte Elise- Gorgeous and classy

Genevieve Sophia- Love it, see Charlotte

Gwyneth Ann- Like it a lot

Gabrielle Leigh- eh, boring.

I think you have three great choices here.

Boys

Garrett Evan- Like this- great flow

Preston Lee- Lee is boring to me, but Preston is okay

Travis Kearney- Great. Does Kearney have some type of meaning for you? Just asking since it's not something you hear a lot.

Liam Nicholas- Nice

Great choices...

Congratulations!

I have to say that my response is a little biased :o)

My first daughter I named Charlotte Grace - she actually passed away at one month of age and I have always been so glad I named her that. It always had and still does get lots of comments on how beautiful it is. I also saw that you mentioned you liked Amelia, but were concerned about references to Amelia Bedelia - my second daughter (and third child) is named Amelia rose! I was worried about the same thing, but it has yet to become an issue. It seems it is not a common character in our children's generation - it was more our generation.. just like their are a lot of Charlie's now a day but they aren't getting too much of the "Charlie Brown" comments (friend of mine has a Charlie and says it has never been an issue). So, if you like Amelia - don't let the AMelia bedelia thing scare you off - it hasn't been a problem. It's a great name, too! Good luck!
