Suri Shiloh

So, as a joke, my husband has nicknamed our baby girl to be Suri Shiloh. Of course, he gets this from Tom Cruise's daughter Suri and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh. It's a joke, of course. I could never name my daughter after a nutbag like Tom Cruise's daughter. Here's the problem - Suri is really starting to grow on us. My daughter, Sophie, loves the name, and calls her that constantly. So, how do I name her Suri but not name her Suri? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Haha. Don't tell but secretly, I love the names Suri and Shiloh. Shiloh is on my list right now. Suri is growing on me, too. Shhh...

If Sophie is calling her that, then the question is how are you going to say, "Well Sophie, her name is not Suri it's (insert baby's name)" She will be confused! That's probably not at the top of your worries, but I had to throw that out there. I have this tendancy to like names that are names of

You could use Serena with nn Suri. Or maybe Susan R (middle name beginning with R).

Sophie and Suri are pretty close in sound, though.

If you really like the name Suri, why should Tom Cruise's use of the name stop you from using it?

I myself don't find the name Suri remotely attractive. However, a name I do think is very pretty is Sari. I went to high school with one and always loved her name. So maybe Sari would be a good alternative to Suri for you.

Another option would be to name her Surrey. Same sound, different (British place name) spelling! That could solve the problem of it being known only as Tom Cruise's daughter's name. I think Surrey looks so much nicer anyway. Good luck!

Ditto this--I think Suri and Sophie would be too close for everyday use. Like Serena, though.

I think it's a cute name too!

That instant Cruise connection is just cause his daughter was born so recently. In think in a few years the name won't have that anymore, especially if more people use it.

I say go for it.

I don't love Suri, but I can definately see the appeal to it. I took care of a little girl named Siri and I thought it was really cute on her. I think it has a more feminine sound to it also. Hope that helps!
