Thinking of Boy Names
11

I just found out that I'm having a boy. My boyfriend is out of town, and he refuses to discuss names over the phone. I'm not due until November, but being bored at work, I have been trying to come up with a good name. I would like his middle name to be Jacob (it hasn't been discussed). Popular, I know, but my best friend passed away last July and I want to use part of his name. My boyfriend doesn't like Luke (which was his first name). So I've been trying to think of some first names to suggest to him for when he gets home. I was thinking about Brady Jacob. I'm not really big on names like Nathan, Jeremy, Cody, etc. But if anyone has any opinions on Brady Jacob (if it goes together, or not) or any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Brady Jacob is okay. I have two problems with it though. One, is that the long 'a' sound is repeated in both names. Two, is the initials B.J. It could be a potential teasing problem.

Other ideas:

Tyler Jacob
Noah Jacob
Kyle Jacob
Aaron Jacob
Brett Jacob
Samuel Jacob
Sean Jacob
Nolan Jacob

Oh, boys are awesome! Congratulations. :)

I think honoring your friend with the mn Jacob is a great idea; hopefully, you can talk you boyfriend into it. The only thing I don't like about Brady Jacob is the repetitious "long a" sound. Have you considered Brody Jacob?

Thanks! I actually did think about Brody Jacob. That's actually why I thought about Brady. So I'm not sure. He'll be coming home tomorrow, so hopefully we can start thinking of names. It's so hard! There are so many people who hate their names! I don't want my child to be one of those people!

I love the idea of using Jacob as a mn after your friend, but the flow of brAdy jAcob, both with the long A's, sounds odd to me. Brody Jacob would work better.

I have to say, I actually love Brady Jacob. I think even though the two names have the similar long-A sound, that they flow really nicely together.
Although I do agree that Brody Jacob sounds a little bit better!

Good luck!!

thanks for all your replies! my boyfriend came back into town, and actually doesn't like the name jacob. my friend's first name is luke. which, he doesn't like luke, but he is okay with lucas. so now we have to come up with a first name. neither of us have any idea what to do. but anyway, i'm still open to suggestions. but i wanted to say thanks for all of the previous suggestions, and let everyone know that the middle name has changed.

Thanks everyone!

The problem is that there are so many fantastic names to chose from out there. Why don't you look into family history and find a name that would reflect your background. Are you Irish extraction? German, Polish? That would give me something to go on. Or you boyfriend? Where is he from?

The other thing that is very important is your surname. BJ what?

How nice of you to honor your friend with Lucas. I think that Brady is a little juvenile, but if that is what you like then go for it.

Here are some more combos:
Holden Lucas
Porter Lucas
Weston Lucas
Gage Lucas
Grant Lucas
Quentin Lucas
Gabriel Lucas, nn Gabe
Micah Lucas

good luck,
Brooke
