My DH and I have, for this week at least, zeroed in on these names. We have a very common last name, and really want to avoid anything in the top 100 or so. We also want something that is not tricky to pronounce, has been used historically (not a new name or a super trendy name), is of European heritage, isn't overly frilly (my name is a cutesy, girly, nickname-sounding name, which was fun when I was 14, but I would now prefer something with a little more substance that suits me better as an adult professional).
Any thoughts on Cecily? Nickname ideas? Middle names? Has anyone heard it used lately?
We love Selene, but is it too closely associated with Celine Dion? (Selena won't work b/c our last name begins with A and they run together.)
What about Celia? Do you think of it as an independent name or a nn for Cecilia? Has anyone heard it lately for a little girl?
Any similar suggestions?

I like Cecily and think its a fresh change. Selene is pretty as well, and with your spelling, I had not thought of Celine Dion at all until reading your post. Celia is not my favorite of your choices, but I do have a cousin who must be around 14 by now, who's name is Cecelia. They call her ce-ce for short, a nickname I never liked. I think Celia is much prettier!
I am trying to think of middle names but coming up blank. Sorry!
Theresa
I think Cecily and Celia are both GORGEOUS, and I'm having a hard time picking which is my favourite. They're both beautiful names. I think Celia is beautiful on its own, I don't see it as a nn.
My favourite of your choices is Selene. It doesn't remind be of Celine Dion, probably because of the different spelling.
I also wouldn't use a nn for it either.
Possible mn's:
Selene Elizabeth
Selene Rose
Selene Grace
Selene Katherine
Selene Jasmine
Selene Madeline
Selene Lauren
Selene Kimberley
Selene Isabella
