I was just wondering what everyone's opinions were on the name Reagan. I like it spelled like this.

I grew up with 2 girls named Reagan and unfortunately they both tainted the name for me because they were both extremely snobby and mean. So when I hear that name I think of the kind of girls in high school I hope my daughter never is:)
That is just my view though and everyone has different taste:)
Reagan Andrea (i thought this would be a cute way to honor dad - i saw in your siggy his name is andrew) - have you guys considered Adrienne or Adrianna - it would be a cute addition to your kids, a cute way to honor dad, and lots of sweet nn possibilities.
Reagan Elisabeth
Reagan Eleanor
Reagan Violet
Reagan Noelle

I think you would need a very feminine middle name with such a unisex fn...

I'm not a big fan of Reagan. Part of it, though, is just that I've maxed out on the presidential surnames, e.g., Madison, Jackson, Kennedy, Truman, Reagan, Carter. They start to become just a blur to me, though with the exception of Madison, there probably aren't really that many people with these names.

They also run together with all the many non-presidential surnames, though -- Cooper, Sawyer, Parker, Hunter, Jameson, Emerson, and so on. Again, each individual name is fine; I just tired quickly of the surname trends, for some reason.

If I were going to use Reagan as a first name, though, I'd probably pair it with a more feminine middle name...perhaps Reagan Celine, Reagan Elise, or Reagan Sophia.

I can't disassociate the name Reagan from President Reagan, so it's NMSAA. Regan (REE-gan) has a prettier sound, imo, and looks more feminine, but it has dreadful associations thanks to Lear and The Exorcist. In the same family, I would prefer Kennedy, Carter, Megan, Riley, Teagan, Lane, Keely, or Tatum.

Some mn combos for Reagan:
Reagan Alexandra
Reagan Lily
Reagan Alice
Reagan Sarah
Reagan Samantha
Reagan Violet
Reagan Melissa
Reagan Hope

The association with Pres. Reagan doesn't bother us at all.

I just watched the Exorcist the other day (hadn't seen it in years) and in the movie they pronounce it RAY-GAN...just thought I would mention that.

As I'm an older mom (lol) I have vivid memories of the former president that do nothing positive for me...

As I mentioned in another of your posts, I simply don't like the name. Some surnames can get by as fns/mns but Reagan just doesn't sound good to me. And I also think of it as pretty masculine, which is another reason I don't like it as a girl's name or even mn.

I don't like this spelling or pronunciation (correctly said with a long a) for a girl. I prefer the Shakespearean Regan (yeah, one of the evil daughters from King Lear--but not as evil as her sister Goneril!) and the long e pronunciation (we can overlook the Lear connection enough to have it on our list and I'm planning on teaching theater and Lear was one of the seminal plays in my college's production run.) Reagan is politically loaded and will be for some time and you've already got one presidential surname in Grant.
