Need opinions....I have 2 DD's Ashley and Abigail(abby). And the only names that I've come up with that I like for #3 both are A names. Aidan for a boy, Ava or Audrey for a girl. But is it too much to have 3 A names? It isn't intentional, like I HAVE to have another A name, but those jsut seem to be the names I like......what do you guys think? TIA!

I don't think 3 A names are too much, although many will think that it is intentional. Are you planning on having more kids? If you have a fourth, he or she might feel left out if they don't have an A name as well!

I don't think it's too much as long as the names aren't rhymey or matchy.

Ashley, Abigail & Ava and Ashley, Abigail & Aidan sound just fine.

If you like those names, use them. My only hesitation with naming the whole gang names with the same letter is that I think the actual names get lost in the shuffle and lose some of their uniqueness when said all together (like on a Christmas card).

Just had to chime in on this one ... I was in the same boat with my two boys, Zachary and Zane. I debated long and hard about whether or not to use another Z name, especially since DH comes from a family with all Br's, Brian, Brenda, Brent (DH) and Braden. (So the trend had already been established)

In my case especially (and less so with yours), it would have looked like we were *really* stretching for that 3rd Z name, especially for a boy (Zoe being a reasonable choice for a girl) In the end, I decided that if I didn't break the trend now, I'd be stuck with Z names forever. Plus, I felt as though adding a 3rd Z name, in a way, diminished from the first two.

As a result, I named DS#3 Quinn, and I have been *very* happy with the decision. Same idea (using a unique letter), but definitely unpredictable, and not what everyone was expecting.

How about considering using another vowel as the first letter of the first name, like E or I? I think that would be a neat twist, and yet give your #3 (especially a girl) a unique identity. I'm sure the ladies can come up with lots of lovely suggestions for E or I. Personally, I've favored Ethan for a boy for quite a while. Ashley, Abigal and Ethan?

I personally think each name is prettier when they stand alone. Over and over, I beg people to break from it on #3. That's when it gets overly matchy to me. But like you, I just seem to be drawn to G- names. If I had had two boys, they would have had the same initials and there was nothing intentional about it! To me, it's more important to be able to say to your child, "I picked a name I loved for you." You should love this child's name as much as the other two. If only the A- names will do for you, go for it. If it makes you feel better, most people REALLY like the same letter thing for siblings. It certainly won't strike anyone as being odd b/c so many people do that now. I just personally prefer more individuality, but can understand your predicament. Take care, Ginger

Beppy-

It's so strange that you suggest Ethan...when I was PG w/ #2, I had told my supposed best friend that if I had a boy, I was going to name him Ethan. Ethan was the only boy name I ever even considered since I started thininkg about having kids. I told her this, and she knew how much that name meant to me. She was PG too, and ended up having a boy, and ended up naming him Ethan. Actually, she named him Conner, for the first like day and a half of his life, then decided she liked Ethan better. I was SOOO mad....still am really, but trying to get over it. Ethan was the perfect name to go with my kids. She has Keith and Ethan, which I don't think flow together too well, but that may just be b/c I'm mad that she took the name from me.

Anyhow, I've since fallen in love w/ Aidan, so I guess all will turn out ok if #3 is a boy...

BTW- what do you think of Olivia for a girl? Is it too popular these days?

Thanks for your input!
