Too many ultrasounds?

Hi! I am currently 17 weeks pregnant with my second child. I have my first ultrasound scheduled for about 5 weeks from now. But I don't want to wait that long! Actually, I work at a technical college, and most of the programs here are medical programs. We have a sonography program here, and the sonography interns are looking for volunteers to do ultrasounds on. I have volunteered to have an ultrasound 6 days from now. Well, the reason I don't want to wait is because I have had many people tell me that they think I'm having twins...including a "psychic." The weird thing is, I don't even know some of these people...they just come up to me and tell me that's the feeling that they've gotten when they saw me! I'm very curious! Please tell me...are two ultrasounds too many? Am I being selfish? Please give me your opinion, professional or otherwise...much appreciated!

Go for it! 2 is definitely not too many. I go once a month and have already had about 8 ultrasounds due to being high risk. enjoy!!!!

Hi there,
I agree with the previous post - two ultrasounds is really normal. I'm actually very surprised they would wait so long for a first scan - I thought they routinely did one sometime in the first trimester. Anyway, I don't think they know of any risks to baby at all from ultrasound, they just try to keep it to a minumum just in case there are risks they don't know about yet.
Now, in exchange for all our 'expert' advice, you're going to have to share your name choices (or lists) with us - we're name people around here :)
All the best,
Jodi

Hey....thanks for the posts. I know that there are some (especially high risk) people who need multiple ultrasounds...just checking. Okay, so you asked about names...

Girls: two choices, love both of them, and according to my polls, almost 50/50 between others...waiting to see what "she" might look like:

Daisy LaVey (LaVey mil name)
Elliann Marie (Eleanor great-grandma, Ann mom's middle, and Marie my middle)

Boys:

I like: Owen LeClaire (LeClaire DH grandpa's middle)
both like: Cooper LeClaire

Obviously we don't know the gender!
