Desperately seeking name for Baby Boy #5, brother of Evan, Hayden, Elliana, and Pierce

working list includes William, Preston, Roman, Henry...

came across these today and I am wondering if they are too "out there" or, as dh would say "trying too hard" LOL

Brinley

Finlay

Meade

Heath

Ramsey

Merrick

Landry

mn will likely be August or Edward (dh's middle)

Thanks!

Marcia due 9/28/04

Well, I wouldn't call them too "out there". In fact, I've seen some of them on the board before. One thing I must point out, though--Brinley and Landry have been used for GIRLS.

I do think Heath and Ramsey are okay. Ramsey reminds me of the name of the King Ramses, so I think of it as a strong, majestic, and powerful name. Heath reminds me of the character Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights.

I don't really care for the other choices, though.

Best of luck to you!

Heath Edward sounds nice! The other new names on your list are nms.

I also like William, Roman and Henry.

Here are my first impressions:

Brinley - I like this name, but I really prefer Brinkley for a boy

Finlay - very very cute

Meade - nms, reminds me of ale; this is the only name I think of as a bit "out there"

Heath - I like it (and my first "boyfriend" in K and 1st grade!)

Ramsay - I like it

Merrick - I like it a lot

Landry - nice, but too similar to Laundry - maybe Lander or Landers

I vote for Merrick Edward or Heath August.

I still really like William August, also - although I see your oldest son is Evan and I especially liked this name with your siblings when for some reason I thought it Evan was named James (from your original post).

Preston is nice, but I don't think Henry fits in with your other sons' names as well as most of your choices.

Good luck!

Good luck!

I have to agree with another poster, even though I think that Brinley and Finlay are masculine, I have seen them as girls' names on this board.

Meade is what we do with our extra honey - we ferment it.

Heath is nice. It's my favorite of those you posted.

Ramsey reminds me of a condom.

Merrick is ok, but NMS

Landry is ok, but NMS

Brinley & Landry are used mainly for girls, so I wouldn't go with either of those.

I really like Roman and both Roman Edward & Roman August are lovely.

You have a lot of great choices. Of your first choice I like Preston and Roman with your other boys' names.

Of the second list, I like Ramsey and Heath. I have heard Brinley and Landry as a girls names. The others' are not my style.

How about Reid, Mitchell or Landon? I think those are in the same style as your other boys names and are not too common.

Some combo ideas:

Reid William

Preston Reid

Roman Henry

Ramsey Heath

Landon Reid

Mitchell Henry

Or:

Reid August

Roman Edward

Preston Edward

Ramsey Edward

William August

Mitchell August

Landon Edward

Many thanks for all the input!!! I hadn't realized that Brinley or Landry were being used for girls?? But that's good to know LOL Having only one girl myself, I dream of princess names like Isabella or Gabrielle -- actually we had chosen Marielle Marguerite if only this had been a "she" LOL Nor had I considered the Ramsey/Ramses/condom connection, also, hadn't thought of but yeah it's there!! ROFL

Also didn't realize Heath was well-thought-of, guess it doesn't put anyone else to mind of the Heath Bar, which is my major obstacle to it LOL I'll run Heath, Finlay and Merrick by dh and see if they can get on the "short list."

Again, thanks for all the suggestions/opinions : )

"How about Reid, Mitchell or Landon? I think those are in the same style as your other boys names and are not too common.

Dh has already nixed Reed/Reid... Mitchell has some unpleasant personal associations for me LOL, and Landon, well, it's one of those names-that-sounds-like-a-verb to me Landon/Landing (of course not that Pierce isn't a verb itself LOL)

Some combo ideas:

Reid William

Preston Reid

Roman Henry **strong contender

Ramsey Heath

Landon Reid

Mitchell Henry

Or:

Reid August

Roman Edward **strong contender

Preston Edward ** probably dh's 1st choice right now LOL

Ramsey Edward

William August ** just adore this : )

Mitchell August

Landon Edward "

Many thanks : )

Okay! I like this list, for the most part. Even if they are unique, your other kid's names aren't so common either. So I don't think it's much of a stretch.

Brinley ~ seems like a girl's name, imo

Finlay ~ I like it. Fin is a cute nn

Meade ~ nms - doesn't seem like a real name to me

Heath ~ yes! very nice

Ramsey ~ again, I like it. also used as a surname

Merrick ~ nms - seems like the name of a villian in some scary movie

Landry ~ too close to the word "laundry" - don't like it

Finlay Edward ~ good

Finlay August ~ doesn't flow well, imo

Heath Edward ~ nice!!

Heath August ~ nms again

Ramsey Edward ~ good

Ramsey August ~ if you're going to use this MN, I'd use this FN

My favorites are 1-Heath Edward 2-Finlay Edward 3-Ramsey Edward

MN August doesn't seem to "go" but that's JMHO!

Good luck. Great names!!

~ Liz, mom to Christopher and Nicholas

**Edited to add : I like this list much more than the original. My favorite is Heath Edward. Hope you consider it!
