Okay, thank you all for your help in my polls. I think we've pretty much decided on Spencer nn Spence. We've liked it all along.

Im completely torn between Sadie and Sabrina. I love them both! and DH likes them both. Im pushing more for Sabrina and hes pushing a little more towards Sadie. My question is to those of you who chose Sabrina, why did you? and for those of you who chose Sadie, why did you? and for those of you who didnt pick either of those 2 names, which one would you pick now and why?

Thanks sooo much ladies.

I will be posting the final boy name and the final girl name with middle name options soon enough. But if you have any suggestions now, they are welcome!!

I like your choice of Spencer a lot.

I much prefer Sabrina to Sadie.

Sabrina is little-used, which is a good thing. Sadie I don't see as a formal name, it's just too nick-name sounding. It began in the old days as a nickname for Sarah, in fact I had two Aunt Sadie's (both long deceased) and both's formal name was Sarah. and, I almost even hate to tell you this, I know at least four dogs named Sadie. Most of them are Golden Labs or Retrievers It seems to be a popular name for Golden Labs/Retrievers for some reason.

other S names I like for girls: Sienna (partial here, have granddaughter), Sierra, Samara, Sonya, Sophia (although slightly classic for my tastes), Samantha (ditto on the classic note), Stacia (spiffier form of Stacy), Savannah (OK, but not great).

good luck.

I agree with most of the previous posters that Sadie seems like a nn for Sarah to me. It also seems very "old" in a little old lady way, not in a so-old-fashioned-it's hip way. I know a lot of names (Rose, Grace, Eleanor) that were previously associated with our grandmother's generation are coming back into vogue, but Sadie is one that I just have trouble picturing on a child. Sadie just sounds like she should be playing shuffleboard in the Catskills or something.

Sabrina is so pretty. I, too, conjure up Audrey Hepburn and the movie Sabrina. It does have a slightly witchy connotation -- beyond "the teen witch," I think Sabrina was Samantha's cousin on "Bewitched"! (maybe it was Serena). But in any even, Sabrina is very feminine and matches up better with Samantha (it is more feminine and formal, whereas Sadie is very earthy). If you wan a nn for Sabrina -- something less formal -- you could always call her Bri (pr. Bree).

Sabrina is my daughter's name, and I absolutely love it. She fits the name so well. Her nicknames are Bri (Bree) and Brina (Breena). Breena/Brina means fairy palace. And, Sabrina means princess. She is my little princess, well not so little anymore, nearly 9 years old! It is not common, yet not weird, everyone's heard of it. And, it is similar to the classic Sarah which is beautiful as well. It's very feminine, yet strong. I could go on and on about why I love her name! Good luck in your decision!

I originally responded before I read everyone's responses, so I just read them. And, I am shocked that some of the ladies think Sabrina is not a good name based on the fact that there are a couple of t.v. shows that Sabrina is a teenage witch in. The name existed before the show, in fact, my daughter was born before the cartoon and the one with Melissa Joan Hart. I must admit, she does get teased from time to time, but by the time your child is in school, those shows may not be on the air anymore. Besides that, I don't see anything wrong with the show, I think it's neat that they chose the name Sabrina!
