I like Tripp as a nn for a III, but not as a name of its own.

Actually thats why we were going to call him Tripp. My husband is a junior and he wants to pass on his name- but i hate it. His name is John Richard Evans Jr. and i can't think of anything in there that's cute. We call my husband Richie. So we've agreed on Tripp instead of using his real name.Does that sound o.k. or is it confusing?

I originally voted no, but changed it to a yes after reading your explanation. I was going to tell you that the only Trip/Tripps I know are III. Under those circumstances I think it's a great option.

I, too, changed my vote after reading your explaination. I think it is a cute nickname.

I worked in a pre-school and there was a little boy who was named Tripp. He was 4 and he was adorable...His real name was Timothy after his father and his middle name was Tripp, but he only went by Tripp...Timothy was after his father and so that when he was older he could have the choice of using either name..I actually like the name tripp, I think for the right little boy it works.

Hello,

I knew one boy named Tripp (his actual, given name...not a nickname) and had a massive crush on him! Obviously I am biased, but I associate that name with someone who is handsome, nice, sporty, and an all-around nice guy.

I like Trey better than Tripp as a nn for III. I also like Jack as a nn for John.

Good Luck!
