I don't know of ANY Tristans. I like the name. It sounds cute for a young boy. As a teen/young adult I would picture a good-looking boy. I think it works well for an adult as well.

I don't know any Tristans. I like the name...it brings to mind Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall. Definite plus. The only downside, it also makes me think of Trista and Ryan from the Bachelorette...All in all, I like the name for a boy. I'm not sure if I like it for a girl or not. I've just never heard of it as a girl's name, but I'm sure they're out there.

I know one little girl named Tristan (she's almost two), but I still think of it as primarily a boy's name, probably because of the Brad Pitt's character in the movie Legends of the Fall.

I like it for a boy, but not so much for a girl (which is odd, as I usually like androgynous names for girls). The main reason I don't like it for a girl is because of the lowbrow nn Trista.

But for a boy, I think it's nice.

Tristan to me is a strong boys name, though I don't know any in my area. I can't really see it on a girl personally.

I've always liked the name Tristan and think it works well for a child and for an adult. I'd give the name to my son if I could get DH to agree :)

LOVE IT!!! One of my favs - Tristan is definitely a boy's name to me, and it's beautiful. I met two Tristan's in my childhood but I haven't come across one in a long time.

Agree with pretty much all o'yas: sooo cute for a little boy, beautiful for a man.

I know a Tristan. When I saw him last he was still in diapers. A cute little boy with light sandy blonde slightly curly hair and chocolate brown eyes. Sweet, adorable kid.

I don't know any Tristans but I like it for a boy's name and I always picture a blond, exuberant toddler.

I think it's too trendy for me, but it's not bad, for either gender

I love the name Tristan. My 10 month old son's name is Tristan Jacob. I had always pictured a Tristan as a blonde athletic person and my blue eyed, blonde hair, rough and tumble little boy, fits his name perfectly. I have met three other young boys (since my son was born) named Tristan. I do not know any girls named Tristan. Tristan was not only Brad Pitt's charater in Legends of the Fall, Tristan was also one of the Knights of King Arthur's Court. I only think of Tristan as a boys name. I feel it is very masculine.
