Hi, we are trying to decide between two names, but we never tell anyone before the birth so I have no one to bounce these off of!

Those are both great!

I think that since you've got it narrowed down to two, it'd be okay to bring them both to the hospital & decide what the little guy looks like when you meet him.

I agree with a pp: take them both to the hospital. They're both great names IMO.

I agree with the PPs...take both to the hospital and see which "sticks", because they're both great. (For the record though, I think Rowan is just a skosh more interesting. ; ) )

Well, I've seen Rowan being used for girls as well- which isn't a problem I guess if you love the name, but something to take into consideration, that it's becoming unisex. I like Noah, but agree with the other posters- take both names with you on delivery day and decide when you see your little miracle in person! :)

Rowan's actually one of those names that's actually been unisex for (literally) eons--like Jordan (which was used on males and females baptized with water brought back from the River Jordan by Crusaders.) So it's actually probably safer than you might think to use on a boy--it's just coming more to the forefront in usage at all, not necessarily more feminine. (Of course, I'm biased...friends have a male Rowan. And I love Mr. Bean.)

I like both names but I usually consider Rowan for a girl.

I didn't post the middle name because it can't really change, and I am ok with it with both first name choices, even if one may sound a little better than the other.

Thanks for the info- I had typically thought of Rowan as a name for guys, and then I saw all these women choosing it for girls (seems to have been spearheaded by Brooke Shields). I used to prefer it for a guy myself but I'm not into unisex names so the more I heard it for girls, the less I like it for guys.
