Trying to narrow down boy names
| Mon, 01-15-2007 - 5:23pm |
I am pregnant with a baby boy and dh and I are having a hard time agreeing on names. His middle name will be Robert after dh's grandfather, father and dh's mn. These are 4 dh hasn't said no to yet. I am just curious on opinions of these names.
Dalton Robert
Brendan Robert
Caden Robert
William Robert

I love the idea of using Robert as a mn since it has such meaning.
Dalton Robert- Love this! Dalton is a nice name that I don't hear too often. It is recognizeable, yet uncommon, which is a nice combination.
Brendan Robert- Brendan seems soft to me, very feminine. Also, it is similar to Brayden which is really trendy. The name just doesn't seem very interesting.
Caden Robert- I love Cade, but Caden falls right into the popular -aden trend. Names like Caden, Aiden, Hayden, Jayden, Brayden, etc. are so popular and have pretty much lost their appeal.
William Robert- William is nice, but since it is so common, I would pair it with a more unique mn, and since Robert is already set in stone, I just don't think it's that great of a combination... a bit too obvious, KWIM?
With the names on your list, I thought you might also like Holden Robert or Jonah Robert.

Dalton Robert -- I love this. Not popular, but still familiar, and it compliments Robert nicely. I also think Dalton bridges the gap between trendy and traditional wonderfully (surnames are hot right now, but this one doesn't come across as trendy or kre8iv, KWIM?). Very nice choice.
Brendan Robert -- Brendan and some similar names are popular, but this is still a nice, solid choice.
Caden Robert -- my least favorite of these four. Caden and all the other "Aidan" names have become so incredibly trendy, it kind of cheapens the whole lot, KWIM?
William Robert -- this would seem a more obvious choice, since both William and Robert are more traditional/classic. While I like William quite a bit, I prefer it be paired with something a bit less expected, if that makes sense (and since Robert's THE mn, I'd use a less-common fn with that instead)

I love Dalton Robert! I would definitely say no to William Robert - I would be afraid of him getting tagged with the nickname "Billy Bob". JMO.
HTH.

Dalton Robert - this is my favorite on your list for all the reasons that others have said.
Brendan Robert - I think this name is little dated, kind of 90s type name.
Caden Robert - If this was Cade Robert I would like it, but Caden is WAY too trendy
William Robert - classic combo - you can't ever go wrong with a classic. This is my second favorite
Good luck!

AJ, enjoying life with C.
I love that you are continuing a tradition of using Robert as a middle name. That is something wonderful for your son to have. As for first names...
Dalton Robert -- I love this! Dalton is a great balance of unique without being unheard of. It's a great combo, flows well, and is very balanced. Definitely my favorite.
Brendan Robert -- nice. I've always liked Brendan. Not my favorite, but nice.
Caden Robert -- ugh, please no. Please don't add yet another Aiden/Caden/Hayden/Zayden to the mix. I'm so so so tired of these rhyming names. They are everywhere.
William Robert -- love it. This is a classic that never goes out of style. I love William and Will and Liam as possible nicknames. This is my second favorite.
