my husband and i have a 2 yo son named Malakai James. we are expecting a baby in july. we have chosen Canaan Layne for a boy, but never found a girl name. now he has been deployed to iraq and i kinda feel like i am naming this baby myself...i dont want to pik something he won't like. he mentioned kayden or caleb. i dont like either...too trendy. i do however like biblical names that kind of have a modern sound to them (malakai, canaan). unfortunately the girl names in the bible are so plain...rebecca, hannah, mary, elizabeth. so i am desperately searching for a girl name that matches Malakai James. it doesnt have to be biblical...thats just a good way to match them. names i like are:

Devany Layne
Haviland Layne
Meredith Layne
Ellery Layne
Seneca Layne
Aspen Layne
Emmerson layne

suggestions please!!!

I like Canaan for a boy! Keep that one.

Girl: There are some more unique girls names in the Bible that you can choose from: Keilah, Priscilla, Sarai, Lydia, Cynthia, Tabitha, Havilah, Miriam ... like any of those?

There are also Cherith, Junia, Persis, Hadassah, Jael, Jerusha, Talitha, Tamar...a lot of really unused but still usable names.

My name is Leah and is a biblical name, and not common but easy to spell and pronounce...

glad you like canaan...most people look at me weird or if they see it written, they can't pronounce it. i dont think its that difficult!
i forgot to put a few names on there...i like eden and selah as well. do you think selah layne is kind of a tongue twister with all the Ls?
i also saw that you homeschool your children....i really want to homeschool. at least for a few years. i am just afraid of what he will miss by sitting in a class with 30 kids...i want his education to be top priority to the teacher, and in a school, thats not realistic. i was just wondering if you had any tips on how your homeschooling works...

i personally think "selah layne" is a little 'L' heavy, but if you like it i think you should go for it.

from biblical girls' names, sarai and dinah are my favorites...and canaan is a great choice!
