My husband REALLY likes the name Ty. He really loves just Ty on its own. I feel like I need something a little longer, and have Ty maybe be a nickname? Is Tyler overused? Are there any other options for having the nickname of Ty?
In my opinion, Ty is too short to stand on its own, especially if you have a short last name. I love Tyler and I think it sounds great with Cameron. I don't think it is overused. I like to look at the percentages on the Social Security Baby Names website...it shows that in 2007, .6378% of boys were named Tyler. So basically, that is six out of one thousand. I honestly don't think that is too prevalent. So I would go with Tyler and call him Ty if you want. Then, when he is an adult, he will have a more professional name to use.
I don't think Tyler is overused anymore, but it had a good run of it there that kind of makes it not have a lot of sparkle for me. But I could really see Tyrone with Cameron (they have this great Scottish laird vibe.)
I think Tyler is sort of past it's prime, but you still it used on newborns a little bit - I agree with you 100% on not like Ty just by itself
other options could be Tyson, Tyrone, Tyrell, but I don't like any of them as well as Tyler
I don't know your last name, but I don't think there is anything wrong with just, "Ty".
I'm not a fan of just Ty but I could see Cam and Ty as brothers.
