Unusual Name

Okay - I would like to try a name out here and see what you think. First of all my daughter who is 7 came home from school with this name, which is one of the reasons why we have hung on to it so long. We don't know if we are having a boy or a girl, but we like this name for both. My husband loves it, I don't know if I have the nerve. My other two children's names are Bailee Rae and Bradyn Jon. Enough stalling - Boston. Yes, like the city, or the tea party, or the red sox. But we live in Oklahoma. Some people love it and some hate it. Is it too much to give to a tiny baby? Let me know your thoughts. Also, if anyone likes it and has any middle names to add, please do. Thanks!

Speaking as someone who lives in Boston - I hate it (the name, not the city!). I actually don't mind place names if you have some connection to the place. If, for example, you were from Boston or even visited it and loved it. Or let's say you use the name London because you were an exchange student there. But how can you use the name of a city that means absolutely nothing to you? I'm sorry, but I just don't understand that. JMHO.

I like it too! Why do people have such problems with "place" names? I have a friend who has a son named Boston and he is a doll. Her other son's name is Greyson.

I really like it...I'm not usually one for place names, like Phoenix and stuff but I really really like Boston. I think it is feminine and just generally neat.

Go with it, then the whole family got to decide the new baby's name!

Good Luck

I really like it! My daughter's name is Brooklyn and I've never been there but who cares?!? We chose it because we think it sounds beautiful. For those of you that think you have to have a "connection" to the place.....give me a break....get over it. It's a cool name....I would go with it!

In my experience, if it's a name that really sits well in your gut w/ your whole family you should go w/ it. We struggled for 9 months to come up w/ a name for our 4th son. We all liked a name that didn't fit in w/ our other boys' names & people looked at us like we were crazy when we mentioned the name. We chickened out & gave him an "everyday" name. To this day we regret our decision (he's 16 months now).

I forgot to mention that, personally, I think of Boston as a masculine name if that matters to you!
