for those of you that offered your opinions on my post about naming a baby girl "Jensyn", to go with my other 5 J' named kiddos....some of you asked that I come back with my decision....well, it seems the Jensyn post was all for nothing...lol
IT'S A BOY!!! Our boy name was always set in stone, John Walter. John was dh's grandfather's name, and his dad's brother is John Jr.....dh has a cousin a few years older than him that is John III. Well, his cousin John only had dd's....so the John name ended with dh's cousin. Dh has the same last name as his grandfather, uncle and cousin...and dh's Uncle has been like a father figure to him since his dad died(when dh was 13, his dad was killed by a drunk driver)....so we are thrilled to get another chance at using the name John for the family. And Walter was dh's dad's name.
I told dh, I'm in love with the meaning behind this name, BUT...I honestly have no clue what we'll call him!! I can't see a tiny baby being called "John". Although we'd planned on using the nickname Jack, common for John....we have a Jacob, that goes by Jake...way too close in my opinion.

Congratulations! John Walter is a great name (my brother is John; my dad is Walter. :)
I think a baby boy called John would be very refreshing! You could also use Jay as a nn.
Oh congratulations on finding out that you're having a boy!!! And I understand your feeling that John is a bit "grown up" for a baby :) Jack is nice, but very close to Jake, I agree. What about Johnny...that's a cute nn for a baby/boy before he "grows into" John :) You could even call him Wally if you wanted...since his mn will be Walter :)
John Walter is very handsome, thanks for coming back and letting us know!

I LOVE John NN Johnny, and Jay was a nice suggestion too.

Congrats!
congratulations on your little boy! WOW! 5 boys and one girl. John (nn Jack) is my dad and brother's name so Jack is a frontrunner if we have a boy in five weeks. And we also have a nephew Jake and I NEVER once thought Jack and Jake were close. I would use Jack if you like it. In my opinion, it's different than Jake.
Congrats,
Hope
