Elaina
Prononced with an E not an A?
My husband and I have been back and forth and this is the only name he says he likes. I like it but I am wondering what everyone else thinks? Do you think it is a little dated?
I think I like Eliana better with the extra syllable to it? Thoughts?
Sam.

I like them both! Elaina you say with a long "e", but Eliana is with a short "e". So you could use the nickname "Ellie" for Eliana, and maybe "Lainey" for Elaina. Depends which you like.
I know an "Alaina" who is 8 years old, and she has a sister Alexandra. Beautiful names.

It's **okay**. I agree, Elaina does seem a little dated; is it dated enough to be old-fashioned (and therefore hip again? lol...); that is the question. Would you pronounce Eliana with the same "E" sound at the beginning? Or more eh-lee-on-a?
Here's a name that has a totally different look, but a very similar sound to Elaina: Perhaps your dh would like Linnea (lih-NAY-uh)?
WDYT?

Thanks girls for your opinions. They are appreciated.
I was thinking for pronunciation that Elaina would be pronounced like Elaine with a NA at the end. For Eliana the pronunciation I got from some websites was e-lee-AH-na or eh-lay-AH-na, I don't really know which one would sound better.
My DH's parents are Portuguese so I am thinking that the second name would be pretty easy for them to pronounce as well.
Sam.
I don't know about Linnea as I know someone of that name, and it isn't totally positive KWIM.
If you have any more ideas though keep them coming as I need all the help I can get with my DH!!!
Sam.
