WDYT of Blaise

I am finally pregnant with #3 after four years of trying. DD is Rebecca and DS is Leo. I am not due until Feb. if all goes well so we have a bunch of time to debate names. However, DH has his heart set on Blaise Stephen for a boy. I don't dislike it. I just feel it is a big name for a little baby and a little boy. I almost feel he should pop out and be a lawyer already. I had some of these reservations with Leo but it has worked really well and he is 5 1/2 now. SO what do you all honestly think about Blaise? Also other names that I like for a boy are Isaac, Tobias, Josiah, Matthias, Aaron and Jude. For girls, I like Georgia, Sophie, Lucy, Naomi and Cecilia. Thank you again.

Of all the boys' names you listed, Isaac is hands down my favourite! Blaise isn't bad, but it's really nms. It reminds me of Andrew McCarthy's character in Pretty In Pink (his name was Blane). With Rebecca and Leo, I think Isaac or Aaron are much nicer.

If you do use Blaise Stephen, though, I think it flows better reversed: Stephen Blaise.

Of the girls' names you listed, I like them all. Naomi is a bit tainted for me, though, since I used to be friends with a girl named that, and I was thoroughly annoyed with her after a while.

To be honest, Blaise is my least favourite of your boy names. I don't love matching initials and I noticed that you have Becca in your signature - if your dd is Becca most of the time I would nix Blaise. Isaac, Aaron and Jude are my top three. Your girl choices are lovely! Naomi and Sophie are my faves; I would rule out Lucy though, since it's the same initial as Leo. Good luck!

With Rebecca, I wasn't sure if Blaise would be a good fit, but with Leo...I think it could work. Remember, even Blaise Pascal was a baby once! (Hmmm...I wonder if he was cute or ugly? Wouldn't it be wonderful to see baby pictures of famous figures in history?) Anyway, to get back on topic...from your list, I'd probably go with Blaise or Jude for a boy (they have that same European feel) and Cecilia or Georgia for a girl.

I don't like it, sorry. Too close to the word "blaze" and I'm not sure it's a good match for your other kids' names, which are much more on the classic side.

Maybe Blaine? Blake?

Rebecca and Leo are gorgeous names and I love the names on your list, especially Tobias, Josiah, Matthias, Naomi, Georgia, and Lucy. I could also see Scarlett fitting as a girl.

I have to say that Blaise Stephen doesn't even compare to the other names... it just doesn't work for me. Not to mention the "s" at the end of Blaise and beginning of Stephen run together to create a bad flow. I wouldn't use it.

Blaise is not my style, at all. It's way too preppy-sounding for my taste. I like the other boys' names you mentioned, though, and your girls' names, as well. My favorites are Jude and Georgia.

I don't dislike it, but I don't care for the flow of Blaise Stephen or the matchiness with Becca, and I have to agree with some of the others than I like your other options better.

Jude is easily my favorite ... the PERFECT brother name to Leo! Short and spunky, with a classy European vibe. Very cool. And Biblical like Rebecca, so again, perfectly fitting overall. Love it!

I'd have to go with Naomi for a girl, though I love all the names in general. I'd try to avoid another -a ending like Rebecca's (unless such a name happened to be "the one," but with others on the list I'd use this as an elimination point, KWIM?), so Georgia and Cecilia would be out (though you might consider Cecily, btw), and Lucy would be much too similar to Leo for me. Between Sophie and Naomi, I just think Naomi is the best fit with the sibs, and it will SEEM that much more interesting/less expected thanks to top-ten Sophia (though I do love Sophie ... and prefer it to Sophia ). Also, and this is just me, but I think it's actually a neat little connection that all three would have names ending in a different vowel -- Rebecca, Leo and Naomi. Nothing most would even notice, but I'm odd like that, so it thrilled me. LOL
