I love Carson Ross for a boy (better than the other names mentioned). For a girl, I would still use the name Carson (spelled the same). Are there any family names you could use for a girl? I don't think Carson is too popular; I actually think it is refreshing. I like Carson Halle the best from your list. Good Luck.

I really like Carson for a boy. I don't like it for a girl, but I have heard of it used for girls also. If you do use it for a girl, I MUCH prefer the normal Carson spelling instead of Carsyn.

Carson Ross McMillan is a great combo and I love that it has a name from both your family and DH's. A really good choice!

From your girl list, I like Caroline, Charlotte, Halle, and Phoebe quite a bit! Presley, Reese, Kinley, and Avery are NMS. They seem more trendy and I prefer names that are more classic. Is there another family name that you'll use for a middle name if it's a girl? You could use Carson or Josephine as a mn for a girl and that would honor those same family members. I feel like girls sometimes get the shaft w/ family names- like more people use them for boys but not girls.

Here are some combos of those:

Caroline Josephine
Charlotte Josephine
Halle Carson
Halle Josephine
Phoebe Carson

Good luck and keep us updated on what you're thinking!

Carson's a name I like but don't love. I DO love how meaningful it is for you &, since it was already on your list of favs, I really think you should use it for this baby. I'm not crazy for it on a girl, though, regardless of how it's spelled.

As for a mn, you've got a lot of good family choices there. I think any of them sound good w/ Carson.

From your girls' list, I like Kinley best.

First, the good news: I love Carson on a boy...I think it's stately and masculine; Carson Ross is my favorite of your combos. Then the bad: I think Carson on a girl is trendy and will date her to this particular point in time and Carsyn just redoubles the effect. However, there are several gorgeous others on your list--Phoebe Maria would be fabulous in making a nod to your Greek heritage and would be unique without being weird amongst her classmates.

Carson Ross McMillan is FABULOUS. I love how both names have significance. It is a wonderful choice, I love it. I have never met a Carson IRL, so I don't find it popular at all. I find it strong and classic. I prefer Ross as the mn over John and Joseph which are really common mn's.

Of course we still have no idea for a girls name...could we use Carson for a girl (or maybe Carsyn)? What do you think?
I really dislike Carson on a girl, and HATE Carsyn! You asked for honesty, and so I will be honest- I think Carsyn looks trendy, misspelled, and is if you didn't put a lot of though into the name.
From your list, I really like Caroline, Charlotte, Reese, and Halle, and I LOVE Phoebe.

Phoebe Maria is beautiful.

That is my concern with Carson for a girl too...it really isn't something I am considering. Someone mentioned it to me last night that I could use it on a girl so I threw it out there. I don't love it though. And esp not with Maria.

Thanks!

I don't like Carson for a girl, regardless of spelling. To me, it just sounds masculine (not unisex, like Emerson or Reese, but masculine, like John or Bruce). There was a time I kind of liked it for a boy, but I would not consider it now because (and this is just my opinion) I am so sick of the surname trend - Emerson, Foster, Taylor, Kennedy, Carson, etc., have lost their appeal due to overuse, as far as I'm concerned. I might think about it a little differently if Carson were a family name, but I like Joseph, Ross, Charlie and Rhys much better than Carson. At the end of the day, though, go with your heart. If Carson is the name you love best, use it!

LOVE the meaning behind both Carson and Ross for you. I think that combo's a winner. ;)

You certainly *could* use Carson for a girl -- it's not unheard of, and if you're comfortable with a more masculine choice, as Presley, Avery and Reese already indicate, the family meaning alone makes this a more appealing choice -- but I definitely would NOT misspell it Carsyn or some other such bastardization. Carson is the family name/spelling, and changing it in an attempt to feminize it only seems to cheapen the connection, if that makes sense.

I love Carson Ross for a boy.

Carson John is too close to Johnny Carson, IMO.

The Johnny Carson reference never even crossed my mind... thanks! And actually, when someone mentioned Carson was a surname, I said to myself - I've never heard of anyone with the LN of Carson, LOL!!

This is why it is so helpful to have your input!!

Thanks!
