Everyone has a different idea of the number of children to have... How many children would you like to have? and has this number changed since your first pregnancy ? or after the birth of your first child?

When we first got married DH wanted loads of kids (about 5 or 6!) which although would have been great as I'd wanted a big family, in reality I thought 4 would be enough. Since having our first 2, I think we have decided 3 would be the perfect number for economical and practical reasons but I originally said I would never have an odd number of children because that would mean someone was the 'middle child' but I'm over that know! This baby (#3) will definitely be the last (unless I get broody again when my kids are older!)

Not sure how many children yet...kinda thinking 4-5. We have 2 right now and are expecting #3. It hasnt' really changed since we had our first child. We would also like to adopt so who knows what will come of it.

Well We never had a set number . We have 6 children 16,10,7,6,2,1 and Hoping that #7 will on the way soon. I have one sister and ALWAYS wished I had more siblings,My husband would have been happy with 3 But After Each addition we realize how much we Truley enjoy the size of our Family despite the Many stares we get when we go anywhere as a family, There is nothing that we would change. Our Children are Best Buddies and there is always someone to play with, Whenever they have a Dance competion or Baseball game They Always have thier own Cheering Sqaud!!!! Its AWESOME!!!!. My husband has a Very good Job that allows me to stay home and I Thank My lucky stars everyday that I have been blessed with 6 healthy kids.Although # 7 will probably be it for us, but you never know, I do think Adoption or Foster care will also be in our future after our older children have grown & moved out.
I guess Time will tell

okay I am posting this answer before I read anyones responses...Before I had any kids, which wasn't that long ago, I wanted 5 or 6 kids...lol yea right...Then after the first two (twins) I wanted one more to make three...Then after Rory was born I thought I was done for awhile, but I REALL WANT A BABY GIRL...I live with four men everyday, and I always wanted One little girl and the rest boys...so now I am pregnant with number 4 and I am praying it is a girl, but if its not we are 95% sure we are done, anyway. I never will say 100% because if we don't have a girl, or evn if we do have a girl, things might change...So i guess i can't answer the question well...

to recap:
I wanted 6 before kids
I wanted 3 after first pegnancy with twins
After third boy am now having 4th
Most likely 4 is the magic number
BUT definatly no more than five, EVER

hope that made it clear, lol

DH & I always said we wanted 2 children ... we have 4 - all were singletons. It was when I was pg w/ #2 that I decided I wanted 3. Then, once #3 grew a bit I REALLY craved another. Now there's 4! I would like another but dh says "no way". I'm worried that as my youngest (2 1/2 yrs) gets even older I'm going to crave that 5th child just as much as I for the 4th.

I'm an only an hated it..DH is one of 6 and liked it most of the time although he said that they all lacked some one on one parent time. We started out with me wanting 3 and him wanting 1..so we had 2-just over 2 years apart...when they were small I really didn't want another..but as they got older we both realized we wanted one more..thus Bridget. I think that all kinds of things can change your thoughts on how many (if any) kids you want.
