WDYT of Janelle or Mariel?

I have a son named Vincent Jameson. I think name Janelle has a strong yet feminine sound, but my husband says it sounds like stripper name. I think he's nuts! mariel sounds like a pretty version of Mary. Thoughts?

I personally LOVE the name Janelle! That is my three year olds name. Her nickname is Nelly! I've always recieved lots of great compliments on her name and I think it is a very beautiful name. Her middle name is Ruth, incase you were wondering. That is just my opinion!
Good luck on choosing! My husband and I aren't even pregnant again yet and are already trying to think of names!!

I like Mariel better...Janelle is too 80-ish or something. OR Ariel??
Best Wishes!

I hate the name Janelle b/c my BF met a business contact on the train with that name, but she obviously thought he was interested in her for something else...so now the name leaves a bad, bad taste in my mouth. And makes my stomach turn.
I LOVE the name Mariel, though! I think it's absolutely STUNNING!!!
Best wishes!
I like Janelle and Mariel is okay but how about Marielle? Starts like Mariel and ends like Janelle.
Good luck,

I like Janelle better. It was around a lot in the late 70s through the late 80s I think. I have't heard any small children named that for a while, but maybe that's just my area.
I don't care for Mariel at all, sorry.
good luck
I vote for Mariel or Marielle, as a previous poster suggested. It's very pretty and classic, and seldom heard. I have only met one Mariel in "real life" (as opposed to celebrity, Mariel Hemingway), and she would be about 18 now.
Janelle is less my style, but it's a nice enough name. There's the blonde actress who plays Donna on "The West Wing" -- I think her name is Janel Maloney. The nn Jan or Janny could be cute. Nelly was a cute suggestion, or if you wanted to, you could even call her Elle or Ellie.
Good luck!

Wow! I'm surprised at how many people have such strong suggestions! Not that I think that is a bad thing, I'm just a bit WOWED by it all.
I found this on the meaning of Janelle.
Janelle, a 2-syllable girl's name of Hebrew/Anglo-Saxon origin, means: Gods gracious gift.
Good Luck!
