If we have a girl, I'd like her mn to be after my maternal grandmother whose name was Lillian.

I would go with Lillian and not Lilla.
Lilla means little but mostly to female
Honestly, it sounds unfinished -- makes we want to say, "Do you mean Lily or Lilith?" I feel like she would have a lifetime of confusion. Also, Lilla is not really all that different from Lily. If you love Lily, use it.
I just noticed that you said you wanted her middle name to be after your grandmother. So that means her middle name would be Lily, Lillian, etc., right? In that case, I don't think popularity matters at all. I would definitely use Lily or Lillian.
What would the first name be?
Stephanie, mom to Megan Joy (nn Meg) and Julianna May (nn Annie)
Thanks for your feedback.
Lilla is a lovely name. Avery Lilla is very melodic.
All of your other first names would go better with Lillian as a middle name.
Thank you.
Avery Lilla is my top girls pick at the moment too!
I think Lilla is okay.
I like it a lot, but I like it even better as a first name. You could even do Lillian and call her Lilla. That way she has a gorgeous, classy first name with a spunky nn to use as a kid, and if she wants as an adult. I think its gorgeous.

Good luck!
