NMS. Like everyone else has said, it sounds very sci-fi. Like the planet Zoltar.

Russian? Really? I'm not saying that's impossible, but I speak Russian (I live in the States but used to live in Russia), and I never met anyone by that name, nor do I remember it from literature. But then, I can't say I know every single name that exists in English, either, so maybe it's just a super-uncommon Russian name. I kind of doubt that, though; I've found that some of these baby books are *way* off the mark when it comes to origins. Or, as you say, maybe it's Hungarian - I don't speak Hungarian, at all, so I have no idea.

But regardless, this name is not my style, at all. It sounds like trying too hard, if that makes sense. And also very made-up and sci-fi, as previous posters have said. There are some great real Russian names, though. Maybe some of those would appeal? I'm a big fan of Zakhar, for example.

I know that Zoltan is Hungarian and means "king," but Zolan is not familiar...I think you may have gotten one of those name books that decided to....um...bend reality a bit.

Zoltan is also an alien "leader" in the Ashton Kutcher/Seann Whatshisname movie, "Dude, Where's My Car?" LOL.

I agree so much with you, my husband and I both love this name and apparently alot of people in Europe do as well.My hubby did some research and found that a number of artists and uniquely cool people seem to have this name. It's also a very rare last name,so it does exist and it's definately not made up.I really value your interest, opinion, and sense of openess on this unique and beautiful boy's name.
