Honestly, it doesn't do much for me. I've only ever heard Rio (or River, for that matter) on boys, so it feels very male and I can't figure out what that "y" is doing in there if Rio is the root name. But I also realize that I don't know which country she's from, so it may be a perfectly normal name there. Over here...it feels "off."
My bf's parents' neighbor (LOL) have 2 daughters- Rio and Honey Kaye (maybe Kay..not sure of the spelling). Rio fits her, it's nms but I think it depends on the family. If you were to choose Rio, I'd use this spelling not Riyo. Personally I'm usually not a fan of nature names, but in this case I might actually use River.
I'm not a tremendous fan of the name, but if it's an ethnic name, it makes more "sense" to me.
I usually prefer names that end in "a" for girls, but I've seen "Miko" and "Rosario" for girls so Rio or Riyo wouldn't surprise me.
At first glance, Riyo looks like a company name to me, like Sanyo (the Hello Kitty company, I think), but if it's more common in a particular ethnic community, I wouldn't find it weird or "out there". :)
